I am passionate about languages since my youngest years. During my long stays abroad, I used to teach my roommates and friends. A few years ago, I decided to teach my native language in a more formal way. I started on a volunteering basis, teaching French to migrants.

After a while, I felt the need to improve my mastery of French teaching. That’s the reason why I decided to get a certification with the Cavilam Alliance Française of Vichy. There, I was trained according to the action-oriented approach recommended by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Originally from Paris, where I trained and taught French to both school students and adult learners,  I also studied in London and worked in Scotland.  I'm currently based in Spain.  I have vast experience in teaching in-person and online.

How I teach 👩‍🏫:

Usually, during the first lesson, we will talk about yourself, what you want to learn in French and why. This way I can understand your goals and adapt my teaching. 

I like to create lessons around a theme, this way I can gather different activities around it. For example, we can start with a few questions about the theme, then gather vocabulary and read a text or watch a video about it. Afterward you can have a few questions to answer about the doct but we can also discuss about it, this way we will work on your comprehension of French language and on your oral expression. I also like to implement speaking games during the lesson so you can reemploy what you have learnt during the session. 

Resources 📝:

I usually use Google Docs and/or Powerpoint for my lessons, according to what I am going to teach (for example if I need to share a digital media with you, I will put it on your personal Google Doct). 

Qualifications 💼: 

I graduated my FLE master's degree, I also have a BA degree in French language and literature and a BA degree in English language, literature, foreign and regional civilisation.

My name is Célia, a native French teacher living in Germany. I have graduated of my master of French as a Foreign Language [teaching French to foreigners] in 2020 at the university of Paul-Valéry in Montpellier, and I became a DELF (A1-B2) corrector in 2022. I grew up in a small village next to Montpellier, and I have been living in Germany for the past 3 years.

During my master’s degree, I learned how to create didactic unit (lessons), exams, and how to use the CEFR (common European Framework of Reference for Languages). I have been teaching French online for the last 3 years to students ranging from level A1 to level B2, and students of all ages: children, teenagers, and adults. During our first class, I will ask you: why you want to learn French, what are your goals, what are your interests, if you want to study one aspect of the language more than another, what is your current level of French etc. Our first conversation during our trial lesson will allow me to get an idea of your level and to prepare a plan for our next lessons. The resources I use are diverse: oral comprehension from the media, text comprehensions [studies of books, articles, extracts of text], grammar exercises etc. The resources are adapted to your level and your objectives. Most of the resources will be provided to you. I also provide a lesson file and homework for each lesson （- ＾ ▽ ＾ -).

My teaching method is mainly based on communicative and action-oriented approaches. My goal is to involve students as much as possible in their learning, to encourage them to express themselves as much as possible in French in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. I started teaching French part-time 4 years ago when I moved to Dublin. I used to help Irish teenagers to prepare their French exams (Leaving Cert - Junior Cert) and students at the University (preparing oral exams, proof-reading essays).  I have been teaching French online since April 2020 and in person in some languages school in Dublin since February 2021. 

I teach French to all levels (beginners to advanced) and all ages (kids, teenagers, adults). I used to live in the USA for a while (Miami) and also in the United Arabic Emirates where I started to teach French from A1 to C2. I have been teaching since 2006.

Learning foreign languages myself, I understand even better!  I teach also  children and I am also also tutoring foreign children living in France who have 3 months to immerse in French classes. 

I like teaching French. Confidence is very important. My method is based on 30 min exercices, grammar, conjugation and 30 min conversation  based on a short video for the listenning. If you are a beginner, you will wait 3-4 lessons before doing this exercice, but don't worry, you will speak speak anyway.  I hope to see you soon.
