Graduated in English Studies by the University of Alcala and certified as a Spanish Teacher with ELE title, I have more than 10 years of experience teaching English and Spanish. I have worked independently, in academies, in classrooms and also online. I was born in Argentina but came to Spain twenty years ago, therefore I know Spanish and South American culture to the same extent. I am also passionate about music and writing - I love exploring creative projects! 

My training as a Spanish instructor is based on studies of Spanish grammar and using the communicative approach methodology that is based on practical and simple activities that help develop skills such as oral expression, listening comprehension, writing with dictation and reading as well. Of course phonetics is included. Each class focuses on the specific needs of each student.

In each class I emphasize oral practice to help students feel confident to express themselves naturally in specific situations.

In some cases, the grammatical structure is included in a simplified and dynamic way, and the grammatical concepts may or may not be used in our class, depending on the interests or preferences of each student.

Also, I like to share the history and culture of my country and Latin America through the practice of Spanish as a natural practice for intermediate and advanced Spanish.

I'm Azahara, a certified Spanish teacher by Instituto Cervantes.

I have specialised in teaching Spanish to English speakers, but I have also taught international students in Thailand, Granada (Spain) and, of course, online.

My lessons are very dynamic and tailored to your needs.

I really enjoy teaching all kind of levels: it is very rewarding seeing the progress of a beginner student that starts to be able to communicate in Spanish after a few well structured classes whereas more advance lessons allow to very interesting topics and a little bit more freedom in the structure of the lesson.

A little bit more about me: I was born and raised in Zaragoza, a small city in the North of Spain famous for its wine, food and a football team that used to be good. I love traveling and languages: currently I'm studying Japanese, but I also (try to) speak French, Arabic and Spanish Sign Language; so yes, I know how it feels learning a language from 0! You're not alone in this process and I'll try my best to make it easy for you :D

My name is Amaya and I am a very passionate Spanish teacher.

I have a postgraduate in Spanish teaching as a foreign language by the University of Barcelona, also I am a DELE examiner and I have as well the Spanish teaching certificate to teach in secondary school. I teach also Spanish for specific purposes like business and I have experience training new Spanish teachers. My level of English is very good and I am very successful in my work which I feel very passionate for.

I work as a face to face and online teacher, I teach all levels, all ages, all nationalities. I have worked for important companies and organizations like NATO, Energizer, Instituto de Empresa etc. I have very good referees and I am very successful because I use a communicative method, I am very innovative, and adapt the class to the student’s needs and interests. I am very polite, educated and friendly.

In addition I have not only knowledge about the Spanish from Spain but also from Cuba and Mexico.

ME AS A TEACHER AND TEACHING STYLE

I consider myself to be an easy person to talk to, patient and fun. I have experience teaching different kinds of students from kids to adults in both online and classroom setting (more than 1300 lessons online + 3 years of classroom setting experience). I have been implementing a combination of the Flipped classroom and communicative approach into the lessons and so far, I have seen  great improvement in my students' ability to communicate. 

TYPES OF LESSONS AND MATERIALS:

Flipped classroom programme: It'll especially boost your Speaking skills in an organised, structured and visual way. Materials will be sent every weekend (video lessons, PDFS, flashcards, grammar games...) and all skills will be covered. In class, we’ll try to practice what you learnt through speaking activities.

Flex lessons: They can be a mix of structure lesson (the one above) and flexible lessons. You can also choose practicing your Spanish through my interactive magazine (B1-B2) which includes: articles, videos, expressions ... In class we can do debates and discussions around these topics.

Conversation programme: Based on the books “Conversar en español I & II”. We’ll do lot of controlled speaking practice. The course also includes access to the Power Points , audio files and notes from the lesson. 

Hi, I'm Maribel, I was born in Ecuador, so I'm a native Spanish speaker with a Latin American accent. I am an actress and screenwriter. As an actress, I have clear pronunciation and voice projection, and I can help you achieve the same. As a writer, I know how to express myself using language correctly. I have experience being a teacher of students with attention deficit, so I have learned how to make my classes interesting. In addition, I believe that each person has a personal method to learn a language, so my classes focus on your needs and adapt to your goals and personality.

Hola, soy Maribel, nací en Ecuador, así que soy una hablante nativa de español con acento latinoamericano. Soy actriz y guionista. Como actriz, conozco una correcta proyección de la voz y pronunciación de las palabras. Como escritor, sé cómo expresarme usando el lenguaje correctamente. Tengo experiencia siendo docente de alumnos con déficit de atención, por lo que he aprendido a hacer interesantes mis clases, además, creo que cada persona tiene un método personal para aprender un idioma, por eso mis clases se enfocan en tus necesidades y se adaptan a tus metas y personalidad.

I offer a laid-back type of teaching, yes, we'll use books, worksheets, exercises for homework (should you request them), etc. But the main goal will always be turning the lesson into a comfortable space where you can practice and learn that making mistakes is part of the natural process of learning. Most of my students are at a beginner level, but I also have experience teaching more advanced levels. I focus on grammar, structure and pronunciation, always looking to steer students towards sounding more natural.

I have been a qualified teacher for 10 years, I am Spanish although I have lived in many different countries. My mother tongue is Spanish but I also speak English, Portuguese and a little French. Teaching Spanish is my passion. The part I like the most about my job is the opportunity to meet different people and learn from them while they enjoy learning Spanish.
