My name is Amaya and I am a very passionate Spanish teacher.

I have a postgraduate in Spanish teaching as a foreign language by the University of Barcelona, also I am a DELE examiner and I have as well the Spanish teaching certificate to teach in secondary school. I teach also Spanish for specific purposes like business and I have experience training new Spanish teachers. My level of English is very good and I am very successful in my work which I feel very passionate for.

I work as a face to face and online teacher, I teach all levels, all ages, all nationalities. I have worked for important companies and organizations like NATO, Energizer, Instituto de Empresa etc. I have very good referees and I am very successful because I use a communicative method, I am very innovative, and adapt the class to the student’s needs and interests. I have been teaching Spanish and English for more than ten years. My experience has taught me that basing lessons on conversation helps to improve language level more quickly. Grammar and vocabulary can be dealt with as part of the process rather than in isolation.

After a needs assessment, lessons will be adapted to your specific needs, and on this basis I select the best resources available. Learning a language can be a fun ride and by speaking with a native you will realize that you can communicate in Spanish better than you may think.

Any topic can be adapted for learning lessons, whether you like talking about literature, sports, geography or any hobbies you have. I am learning French myself, which helps me better understand the problems language learners face.

My lessons are "Conversational Spanish"; if you are on a basic level, like A2+ / B1, we can have a more structured lesson.  

If you don't understand a specific grammar topic, we can discuss it and use some examples -related to your life-.  

We can also use pictures, paintings (my favorite way of practicing a language), videos, or anything that will help you to talk in Spanish.

Passionate about languages and intercultural exchanges, I have taught English and Spanish as foreign languages for over 15 years in Puerto Rico, France, and online.  I have had the opportunity to teach a wide variety of students from various backgrounds, integrating multicultural teaching resources to diversify learning styles.  I happen to believe that there is not one and only way of teaching or learning a foreign language.  Therefore, I adapt my lessons and methods to the students’ objectives, needs and interests.  My goal is always to offer an open, honest, communicative and supportive environment in which every student can feel motivated and appropriately challenged.
