After you create a free account, you'll be able to view each tutor’s profile and pricing. Prices can range anywhere from around 14 USD (€12/£10) to 40 USD (€34/£29) per 55-minute lesson. Some tutors also offer 30-minute lessons.
You may find it cheaper than learning locally as tutors don't have to travel and sometimes live in countries with a lower cost of living. There are also discounts if you buy more than one lesson at a time. You'll be able to use our price filter to help you find a tutor who fits your budget.
1-on-1 lessons are perhaps the best way to improve speaking skills, and because of this many students use LanguaTalk to learn to speak Swedish fluently. That said, some students have other, more specific goals. Tell your tutor what your goals are and they'll tailor the lessons to your needs. Most tutors can help with any of the following:
New to LanguaTalk? You'll have one credit for a free trial. Many, but not all, tutors offer trials for free. If they do not, the price will be just 30 percent of their full lesson price, so you can still try a session at minimal cost.
Trial sessions last 30 minutes. They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in Swedish as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too!
Most of the Swedish tutors on our site are able to teach students of all levels (A1-C2). When you click on a tutor's profile you'll see if certain levels are not supported. For example, certain tutors cannot teach complete beginners.
Likewise, you can also see on the tutor's profile whether they're suitable for all ages. Online Swedish lessons are sometimes taken to support school/college studies. Usually, the tutor will be able to customise the lessons to follow the material and topics covered in the student's exams. Please note that as per our Terms & Conditions, students who are under 18 must get permission from a legal guardian before booking.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can make fast progress. Communicating via video call, you’ll be able to talk to your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experiences, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever Swedish tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
We want students to have an exceptional learning experience on LanguaTalk, so we only accept the very best tutor applications. Though we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills, personality and reviews from previous students. Almost all tutors are native speakers of the language they teach, and we require that they can speak English too.
Each tutor is different - they have different backgrounds, strengths, teaching methods and personalities. So we suggest you browse several profiles to find the right Swedish tutor for you.
The beauty of taking Swedish lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. When you choose a tutor, just check their calendar to make sure that they have available times that fit your schedule. Some Swedish tutors have limited availability due to teaching a lot of students.
Our booking system is designed to be incredibly easy to use. You can see tutors' available hours in your local time zone. If you choose to book lessons with a tutor, you'll be able to purchase them one at a time, or buy in bulk with a volume discount. You can pay securely by card on our website.
We also make it easy for you to add lessons to your online calendar, whether it be on Google, iCal, or Outlook. And we'll send an email reminder to help ensure you don't forget to turn up.
You can reschedule or cancel lessons in a couple of clicks. Note that this can only be done up to 24 hours before the lesson time. This rule is required to protect tutors, who lose income when lessons are cancelled at the last minute.
Typically, Swedish courses are taught in groups and you follow a fixed syllabus. The syllabus is targeted at a specific level, with levels ranging from beginner/basic (A1/A2) to intermediate (B1/B2), to advanced (C1/C2). Whilst it can be fun to learn with other students, there is a major issue. Students rarely have the exact same level. Even if they do in the beginning, a few weeks in, certain students will inevitably have progressed faster than others.
The result? Some students complain that the course is too slow, whilst others complain that it's too fast. On top of this, there is no flexibility to focus on what you personally want to improve upon, nor to concentrate on topics that interest you. If you want to learn how to speak with locals, you'll likely end up frustrated with the limited speaking practice.
If you learn via LanguaTalk, your tutor will adapt the lessons to your individual needs. You'll be able to speak throughout and receive lots of feedback. You'll become fluent faster.
