Hello there! My name is Luciana, I am a language tutor with 2 years of experience (both in-person and online classes).

✨About me
I consider myself to be a very patience, disciplined, kind and creative person.
I am passionate about history, pastries, literature, linguistics, animals ( 100% dog lover! 🐕) and, of course, languages. So if you are interested in any of those topics we’ll make a good match :]
And if you don’t, that’s ok! I find very nourishing learning about topics outside my comfort zone.
I speak Spanish since i am a native speaker from Peru, with a neutral accent. I do speak English fluently, German and a bit of Japanese also.
✨ Methodology
I use a methodology based on research and methods proven by psychologists and teachers. My classes are ALWAYS prepared and structured to meet your needs. The methodologies i use are:
1️⃣ TPRS (Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and Storytelling) and comprehensible input -> For learning grammar and vocabulary in a engaging, stress-free way!
2️⃣ Breaking down your favorite songs, stories and articles -> To practice reading, vocab and pronunciation!
3️⃣ Direct method (speaking only in Spanish for intermediate or advanced students) -> To strengthen your speaking and listening abilities
ALSO, i always explain grammar step by step and provide flashcards to remember vocabulary (based on the science proved method “Spaced repetition”).
I provide each of my students a personalized plan and homework based on their goals, needs and way of learning.
✨ Teaching Philosophy
I do believe that the ability we have for learning is truly a gift, as i said in the video “The ability to learn is a seed that, with love and discipline, can grow into a beautiful flower or a juicy fruit”. As a tutor, my goal is to give you the best education possible so you can see progress and value the time and effort you are putting into the language.

At this point, I've probably written more glowing reviews of Luciana than of any restaurant I've ever visited. And somehow, she keeps giving me new reasons to write another one! After more than two years of studying with Lu, I'm still discovering new reasons to appreciate what an extraordinary teacher she is. As my Spanish has progressed, our lessons have evolved right along with it. These days, she's helping me tackle the finer points of the language: expressing more sophisticated ideas, recognizing subtle differences in meaning, and communicating with greater precision and naturalness. She doesn't just help me speak better Spanish; she helps me express myself more fully and authentically in Spanish. What I find especially remarkable is that, after all this time, she continues to find new ways to challenge me, inspire me, and make learning genuinely enjoyable. That's the mark of a truly exceptional teacher, and I feel fortunate to have her as my coach and teammate on this journey toward fluency.

Luciana is an extremely patient and very kind tutor who is highly invested in helping her students improve and is very passionate about teaching. As a tutor myself, I appreciate the way how in every lesson she handles feedback in the format of the things I did well and areas I can improve. At the end of the lesson, she goes over these which is very helpful to see progress and what I can work on for the future. This is also very helpful for maintaining a good conversational flow (she generally saves corrections and guidance for the end of the lesson). In every class she takes time to make sure you understand the concepts thoroughly and she is always very encouraging. I never have to worry about making mistakes because I know she will gently correct me or help with with words I don't know and this gives me the confidence to keep speaking. She is very open to work on different activities such as helping me with role plays which enact scenarios I face at work where I have to talk with Spanish speaking customers who don't speak English, and if I don't have something in mind, she always has an activity to help me with learning and practicing different concepts in Spanish. I have had 30 lessons with her so far and out of over 20 tutors I have worked with, I can confidently say she is one of the best tutors I have had since I began studying Spanish seriously a year ago. I highly recommend working with her, especially if you are shy or nervous about speaking.

I have taken lessons twice a week from Lu for about 6 months now. I was a nervous high intermediate when I started, but now I am very comfortable in many more situations and am more chatty in Spanish than before. Lu takes a very positive and constructive approach. She doesn't interrupt you on every mistake (which i still make many of, as I am pushing the edges of my knowledge each time). Rather, she summarizes areas for improvement at the end of the lesson. In between lessons, she sends ideas and items for more study or interest. My goal is to be more fluent, and studying with Lu is going to get me there.
