Hello,
My name is Chris, I am from Austria and I would love to be your German teacher.
I have a wide variety of experience. I started teaching German during my studies. We exchanged languages, so I was able to learn some French, Italian, Polish and Russian. During a two-year long journey around the world, I was giving German lessons voluntarily in Russia, Korea, Vietnam and some more countries. For me it is great to help people achieving their goals. To do that, my first emphasis is to create a pleasant learning atmosphere. Building up on that, I use many techniques and exercises in order to aid your learning.
We can simply start from scratch, refresh your German, or have some advanced level classes. I will tailor the lessons according to your needs and your German will improve fast. During our trial lesson we can talk about your expectations and needs, and I will tell you how I plan to support and teach you.
Los geht’s! Lets start!
With a passion for different cultures and languages as well as diving into the details of how something works, I have found my place in the teaching world.
I equally enjoy conversational lessons about a variety of topics that may be of interest to you but also grammatical lessons where we explore how the grammar works and learn to apply this through interactive exercises and speaking practise.
My approach to teaching is completely individualised meaning that we do not follow a specific textbook chapter by chapter. Instead we will work out together what your goals and interests are. We will fly through things that you pick up quickly and we will spend more time where it is needed. The topics we choose are based on what is relevant to you allowing you to gain vocabulary which suits your learning goals and interests.
I am looking forward to meeting you in a trial session.
My methods are always developed in accordance with the interests and needs of each particular student. Each of us has a different connection with the language - preferences of how to study, goals, etc. My lessons are varied and engaging. I find it a joy to teach my mother tongue, and I hope we'll have a lot of fun together. Feel free to book a trial lesson! Below are my specialities:
Conversation: One of my favorite parts of being a German tutor and teacher! Whether you want to round off your studying in a beginner mode with some active conversation or you're already quite advanced and want to deepen your knowledge, I can help. I use relevant & interesting topics, including videos and texts, individually designed for your objectives.
Sprachprüfungen Goethe-Institut (A1-C2): Not only did I prepare and guide several students successfully on their way to the DSH-exam, I also did a C2-exam in Spanish myself; so I really can empathize with your situation! Feel free to book a trial and we'll discuss your goals together!
Deutsch für Profis: Your German is pretty good? You have no problems communicating in everyday life? And yet you feel there's still room for improvement? Then you've come to the right place. Complex topics, a sustainable expansion of vocabulary and stylistically confident sentence constructions. Let's get started!
I´m Stella, from Metzingen in Germany. I started teaching languages 5 years ago and obtained a teaching certificate. I´ve been teaching German online for about 3 years. I speak English (C1 level), Spanish (C2 level) and a little bit of French.
Every student is unique, that´s why I prepare each lesson carefully, taking into account the needs, interests and learning goal of my students. The structure of the lesson also depends on the way of learning that works best for you. That´s what we are going to discuss in the trial lesson. You will also get an idea about how our lessons will be. And as I get to know more about your interests and hobbies, I can prepare lessons with topics that are interesting and practical for you.
I have worked with adults and children of all ages and German levels, so I have teaching material for every level and for exam preparation. We will practice reading, listening, writing and speaking. Therefore, we will use videos, worksheets, online exercises, dialogues or role-plays. We will practice everyday German and the vocabulary that you personally need. I will also guide you patiently through the grammar topics. If you want, I will give you homework after the lesson.
Ich hoffe, du buchst eine Probestunde mit mir!
Bis bald,
Stella
I will help you learn German with personalized lessons according to your needs and interests. In my German lessons you will not only learn the correct pronunciation and grammar but also a lot of useful facts and details about the German culture and way of living. This will help you if you are already living in a German-speaking country or plan to move there. I can also help you with exam preparation, such as Goethe-Test, Telc, or TestDaF.
We will use role plays, audios, videos, and a lot of different materials in order to improve your speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. Every student has a different learning pace and different needs and interests. In the trial lesson I will find out what your goals are and with that information I will be able to adapt my German lessons so that you will learn German and enjoy it!
I was born in Spain and raised in Germany, so Spanish and German are my native languages, but I also speak English (C1 level), French (B2 level), and a little bit of Portuguese.
Over the last 30 years I have taught languages (English, German, and Spanish) to children and adults of all ages and levels. I've helped several students to pass different language exams.
I love languages and that reflects in my teaching! Don't hesitate and book a trial lesson with me.
See you soon,
Carmen
I do not only teach languages to earn money, it is my passion to teach, to have conversations with people from various countries, to allow someone to learn a new language, to open doors in this global world.
I am a German native, single mom of 2, with more than 10 years of teaching experience and about 20 years of tutoring experience. I have been teaching online for more than 6 years, but also taught in colleges, language schools and many private settings.
I have lived in the US for 7 years and came back to Germany in 2017. In 2020 I decided to become a full-time online teacher. I teach grammar, vocabulary, prepare you for tests and also for interviews, small talk or travels. I enjoy conversations as much as exam prep.
I would love to teach you soon! Please watch my video and book a trial session with me!

1-on-1 lessons are perhaps the best way to improve speaking skills, and because of this many students use LanguaTalk to learn to speak German fluently. That said, some students have other, more specific goals. Tell your tutor what your goals are and they'll tailor the lessons to your needs. Most tutors can help with any of the following:
New to LanguaTalk? You'll have one credit for a free trial. Many, but not all, tutors offer trials for free. If they do not, the price will be just 30 percent of their full lesson price, so you can still try a session at minimal cost.
Trial sessions are 30 minutes and are taught via video call (Skype or Zoom). They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in German as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too!
Please note, for your first trial, even if it's free, we'll need to run a card check to verify your identity and limit free trial sessions to one per student. We do this to support fair working conditions for tutors. You can also take a second trial session if there are any issues with the first one.
Most of the German tutors on our site are able to teach students of all levels. When you click on a tutor's profile you'll see if certain levels are not supported. For example, certain tutors cannot teach complete beginners.
Likewise, you can also see on the tutor's profile whether they're suitable for all ages. Online German lessons are sometimes taken to support school/college studies. Usually, the tutor will be able to customise the lessons to follow the material and topics covered in the student's exams. Please note that as per our Terms & Conditions, students who are under 18 must get permission from a legal guardian before booking.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can progress quickly. Each lesson is 55 minutes long and is taught via video call, allowing you to communicate with your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experiences, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever German tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
We want students to have an exceptional learning experience on LanguaTalk, so we only accept the very best tutor applications. Though we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills, personality and reviews from previous students. Almost all tutors are native speakers of the language they teach, and we require that they can speak English too.
Each tutor is different - they have different backgrounds, strengths, teaching methods and personalities. So we suggest you browse several profiles to find the right German tutor for you.
The beauty of taking German lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. When you choose a tutor, just check their calendar to make sure that they have available times that fit your schedule. Some German tutors have limited availability due to teaching a lot of students.
Our booking system is designed to be incredibly easy to use. You can see tutors' available hours in your local time zone. If you choose to book lessons with a tutor, you'll be able to purchase them one at a time, or buy in bulk with a volume discount. You can pay securely by card on our website.
We also make it easy for you to add lessons to your online calendar, whether it be on Google, iCal, or Outlook. And we'll send an email reminder to help ensure you don't forget to turn up.
You can reschedule or cancel lessons in a couple of clicks. Note that this can only be done up to 24 hours before the lesson time. This rule is required to protect tutors, who lose income when lessons are cancelled at the last minute.
Sometimes students feel uncertain about learning German online because they think it’ll be totally different to learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a strong relationship with their tutor.
Once you start a video call with your chosen German tutor online, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. They’ll usually also share learning resources with you (using Google Docs, YouTube etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time.
According to the Foreign Service Institute, if you already speak English, German is one of the easiest languages to learn. The exact amount of time it will take you to become fluent will depend on many factors, such as your current level, your knowledge of similar languages, your capacity to learn, how you study, and how intensively you study. Some will be able to go from beginner to conversational fluency within a couple of months through intensive study. Others will take longer. Combining 1-on-1 lessons with an online German tutor with regular self-study is an effective way to learn German fast.
If you live in the US or Europe, face-to-face German lessons may cost anywhere between $15 and $40 (USD) per hour. Online tutoring tends to be cheaper than face-to-face because the tutor doesn't need to travel to you. An online German tutor could cost anywhere from $7 to $30 per hour, but be aware that very cheap tutors may lack experience. On LanguaTalk, German tutors typically charge between $10 and $25 per hour.
Of course, learning 1-on-1 with an experienced German tutor is not the cheapest way to learn; you could learn via a free app instead. But if you're serious about learning, nothing beats 1-on-1 German lessons with a great teacher.
There is no 'best way' to learn a language - it depends on your needs, level and budget. If you can't afford to take lessons, you can use a free app such as Duolingo to build your vocabulary. And to improve your listening skills, you can watch TV and listen to podcasts in German. But to learn how to actually speak a language, you need to talk to a native speaker on a regular basis and receive accurate feedback so that you improve. If you want to make fast progress, it's best to take 1-on-1 lessons that are tailored to your needs by an experienced online German teacher.
