I'm an experienced German teacher from Berlin who speaks German, English and Spanish fluently. 

My first teaching experience was 2015 in Perú, where I started to teach German as a foreign language to children in a social project. Since then I worked for many different kinds of language schools in Germany and Barcelona, but since 2020 I’m exclusively teaching online.

Corrections and suggestions will be provided in the chat box. (this is not a grammar class though so explanations will be kept brief to focus on the conversation and improving fluency.

Given my background as a Communications Director at a global company I'm also happy to include business topics if that's of interest to you. 

My classes are NOT for beginners. As it is a conversation class, you must be able to hold at least a basic conversation (A2 level or higher)

Until recently, I was employed as a teacher at a school for two years, teaching German as a foreign and second language and physical education from 5th to 10th grade. Would you like to learn German with personalized lessons according to your needs and interests? Since I have a Zoom Business account, you won't need to reconnect to the meeting during our  lessons (55 minutes).

Some facts about me: I was born in Spain and raised in Germany, so Spanish and German are my native languages, but I also speak English (C1 level), French (B2 level), and a little bit of Portuguese. Over the last 30 years I have taught languages (English, German, and Spanish) to children and adults of all ages and levels. I've helped several students to pass different language exams.

Hi! I am Larissa, I am originally from Frankfurt, Germany. Right now, I am living in Baja California, Mexico. Since 2019, I've been teaching German as a foreign language via video chat and in face-to-face sessions. My students come from all over the world, from various age groups and have different skill levels. I started working as a German tutor in 2017, while I was still travelling a lot between Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece and the UK. I am a native German instructor as well as a certified coach for communication and emotional management. Since 2018 I have been helping people around the world to learn German in an easy and fun way. I started my work at a French High School. My main task there was to prepare the advanced learners for their oral exams. Later I continued at a French Engineering University teaching the students to apply their German skills to specific topics linked to their studies and future jobs. I also helped them in the preparations of their year abroad in a German speaking country. After this experience I switched to instructing beginners at a French Middle School and started my work online with beginners as well as advanced learners. 

My offer includes lots of exercises that will enable you to express yourself spontaneously and quickly break the barrier to speak. In addition to the sessions with me you will get tasks that you can easily complete and repeat throughout your everyday life. Together we will create a stimulating learning environment that makes it easy for you to pick up new vocabulary and grammar structures without having to know all the different rules that a native speaker does not even know ;)

Teaching Approach

There are many ways to teach a lesson. I'm a lover of a varied approach whenever applicable. I can honestly say that I will always do my very best to find suitable methods in order to facilitate comprehension and learning.

Over the course of a lesson, I might use audio files, videos, transcripts, books, worksheets or custom-tailored exercises that I feel are best suited for that particular student. Likewise, I will also train conversation - practical or otherwise.

I highly value being kind, patient, modest and encouraging. I always strive to create an environment that fosters a positive feeling. An inviting atmosphere is essential for learning anything at all. I welcome mistakes students make because it's normal to do so, plus that is one of the best ways to learn something properly.

My ultimate goal for you, as my student, is to enjoy yourself while learning and progressing!

Students are different, and all have their own individual needs and expectations. I see myself as someone who is guiding them along their chosen path. Occasionally prompting them to discover (the beauty of) a concept here and there they might have overlooked otherwise. Helping them to develop long-term strategies that will make them feel accomplished and self-assured.
