My name is José. I lived most of my life in São Paulo, Brazil, and after a period in London, I’m now based in Turin, Italy. I’m keen to help you learn Portuguese—whether it’s for travelling, communicating with your loved ones, work, or simply for enjoyment—regardless of your level.

My name is Paula and I am a qualified Portuguese teacher. I studied to be a Waldorf primary teacher and also completed the TEFL, which additionally allows me to teach English.I also have a bachelor's degree is in Cinema and Communication.

I am half Brazilian/half Portuguese and I also teach both Brazilian and European Portuguese, depending on your preference. I am fascinated by all the varieties of my language and the small distinctions between them. It's so beautiful! 

I first meet students for a trial lesson, to get to know their objectives, their interests, and what kind of learners they are. Each person is different and I try to adapt to every student. In my classes, I use a communicative approach and we start talking from day 1. My goal is to make students feel comfortable with the language and not be afraid to make mistakes. I work on the development of speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills, as well as proper pronunciation and vocabulary enhancement.

I'm an accomplished educator, translator and transcriber in Portuguese, English and French with over 8 years of experience, hailing from the state of Goiás in Brazil. I have a Bachelor's degree in Languages (French and Francophone studies major) and I am currently a Master's degree student in Cultural Studies in France. Immersed in the picturesque city of Bordeaux for more than 3 years now, I've embraced its cultural treasures, complementing my diverse background in music, art and culture.

Throughout my teaching tenure, I've engaged with various age groups and proficiency levels in Portuguese, English, and French. Beginning as an English tutor for high school and college students, I progressed to teaching English across different skill levels and facilitating dynamic conversation classes at a professional institution. Moreover, I had the privilege of serving as a Portuguese language tutor for France Éducation Internationale, an initiative backed by the French government. Olá! My name is Carolina and it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Portuguese, and I have been teaching my mother tongue for over 7 years, both at university level and online. I like to diversify the materials I use as much as possible to focus on all different aspects of the language, but I tend to prioritize speaking practice. I have taught courses as diverse as Spoken Portuguese, Advanced Writing, Portuguese Culture/Literature, and even Sports Readings in Portuguese. If you are curious about the story of how I became a Portuguese teacher, read ahead:

I studied Modern Languages at the University of Coimbra (look it up; it's one of the oldest universities in Europe!) and Literature at the University of Glasgow (quite a stunner as well). One day, a Chinese friend at the pub asked me whether I'd like to apply to his home university, all the way in China, as a Portuguese lecturer. I said 'no way,' so naturally, I ended up moving there shortly after and living in the beautiful city of Harbin for 3 amazing years. Not only did that experience provide me with adventure, but also a lifelong calling: I have loved teaching ever since. After returning to Portugal, I taught online for two years at Beijing Sport University and a few other language schools operating around the world. Now I work as a freelance online teacher and divide my time between Portugal and Sweden.

Hello everybody! My name is Duarte and I was born and brought up in Lisbon, Portugal. I communicate in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, and a smidgen of German and Italian. After departing Lisbon in 2014, I resided in Berlin, Germany for 6 years, where I turned into a Portuguese instructor. I relocated to Madrid, Spain in March 2020.

I adore instructing Portuguese to all varieties of proficiency levels and group sizes, and I believe acquiring any language enhances one's life significantly! I've always relished mastering other languages, and it's a delightful experience for me to impart knowledge of my own.

Since commencing teaching, I've encountered learners from all corners of the globe, with diverse levels, backgrounds, aptitudes, and shortcomings - from complete novices who embarked from ground zero (and one year later were engaging in discussions with me on a diverse array of subjects) to exceedingly advanced learners who sought assistance in exam preparation.

My approach concentrates on verbal communication and utilizing the language - the conversational topics can be profoundly language-focused (you might say "textbook" focused - daily routines, your weekends, traveling, etc.) and intertwined with Portuguese culture.
