Hi there!

In my lessons I focus a lot on speaking skills, whether it is ad hoc conversation or set topics. Speaking is one of the hardest things to master in a foreign language, but also one of the most useful. Having said that, I always try to adapt to the needs of my students. I want to help you with the things that are important to you. Whether you prefer reading texts or books, listening to songs or watching videos, practicing for an exam or interview,... I am here to help you with your goals.

As a teacher I am very patient and want to make sure that my students really understand, before moving on. Everybody learns at their own pace and with their own style. Further I want you to feel at ease in my lessons. Only if you enjoy learning you will continue and succeed.

On grammar: as little as possible, as much as necessary :) I will introduce new grammar only if I feel you have trouble expressing yourself (oral or written) or have trouble understanding texts. However, if you are completely new to German, there is unfortunately no way around it. In any case, I can provide clear explanations to make German grammar easier to understand.

I specialize in the exam preparation for the Goethe Zertifikat or equivalent and have considerable experience with professionals, embassy staff and medical students. My method is simple: I make it real, I make it relevant and most of all, I make it fun!

My name is Nina, I grew up in Berlin, Germany, but I´ve lived in the most northern German federal state for ten years now.

For me it is very important to create a pleasant atmosphere and to teach German with fun! Since i am a foreign language learner myself, i can also give you some tips on language learning, e.g. how to remember the articles? Or how do I remember the accusative/dative? I know some creative techniques :)

I´ve studied Linguistics and German/German as a foreign language and I have 7 years of teaching experience (mostly beginner level). I´ve been teaching German for a few years at a school (A1-B1) and at a University of Applied Science (Fachhochschule- Studienkolleg, B2-C1) and I teach German online since July 2022 and focus on the BEGINNER-levels up to B1. As you can see in my video, I can speak slowly and clearly for beginners. Due to my linguistic studies I can also help you with pronunciation and have many tips and exercises to help you improve your pronunciation.

I am well organized and have a lot of material at my disposal, also for self-learning if desired. In addition, I supplement the lessons with exercises in which you are active. I also use videos/songs and games in my lessons. We will set your goals at the beginning and we will work at your pace. In my lessons, you will learn to communicate in everyday situations. Of course you will also learn to read, write & understand German.

A little bit about myself: I´m very interested in languages, at the moment I`m learning Arabic, so I know what it is like to learn a new language. In my free-time, I like to be outdoors (ride my bike, urban sketching) but also inside (pet my cat Milou or be creative- painting/ upcycling,...)

Hi! I am Larissa, I am originally from Frankfurt, Germany. Since 2019, I've been teaching German as a foreign language via video chat and in face-to-face sessions. My students come from all over the world, from various age groups and have different skill levels. Depending on your skill level and requirements, we might start at the very beginning, dig into some grammar, do listening, reading and/or conversational exercises. I can also help you with different exam preparations or getting you ready to travel/move to a German speaking country. I like to work with free online sources, but am also happy to work with any material that my students bring to class. It is important to me to create a friendly and judge free atmosphere for my students where they feel comfortable just speaking and asking questions.

I am very passionate about traveling, exploring other countries and learning languages. Teaching is a great way for me to meet people from all over the world and learning about their cultures as well.

There are many ways to teach a lesson. I'm a lover of a varied approach whenever applicable. I can honestly say that I will always do my very best to find suitable methods in order to facilitate comprehension and learning.

Over the course of a lesson, I might use audio files, videos, transcripts, books, worksheets or custom-tailored exercises that I feel are best suited for that particular student. Likewise, I will also train conversation - practical or otherwise.

I highly value being kind, patient, modest and encouraging. I always strive to create an environment that fosters a positive feeling. An inviting atmosphere is essential for learning anything at all. I welcome mistakes students make because it's normal to do so, plus that is one of the best ways to learn something properly.

Students are different, and all have their own individual needs and expectations. I see myself as someone who is guiding them along their chosen path. Occasionally prompting them to discover (the beauty of) a concept here and there they might have overlooked otherwise. I've studied at a German university. I've worked as a full time teacher in German trade schools for many years. I've easily taught more than 4,500 lessons over the years. I taught students from all walks of life, with their ages ranging from fifteen to forty-five years.

Hello! My name is Simon and I come from Germany. For many years, I lived abroad, working and studying in East Timor, Italy, Russia, Jordan and France. Living abroad, I always struggled not knowing the local language and developed a passion to do my best and learn these languages. 

Today I speak 7 languages. To get there, I developed many techniques and methods that helped me improve my grammar, understanding and speaking. Since I started teaching, I have helped more than 50 people and gathered over 2000 teaching hours of experience. I hope to share these techniques with you and help you reach your language learning goals. 

Learning a languages is a unique experience. Everybody has a different story for learning German. You may need to pass a German exam to enter university or work in Germany, you may have German friends or family and want to learn more, or you may simply enjoy learning German.

Hi, my name is Sina and I am a native German speaker who is passionate about talking and teaching this language with people from different cultures all over the world! I am currently based in Kampala, Uganda, working in the creative arts sector as projects manager.

My experiences teaching German language go back to 2015, during my master studies, when I gave intense lessons to refugees helping them to reach basic vocabulary and grammar for everyday conversations using self-compiled material.

When moving to Uganda in 2019, I gave regular tutoring classes to German students' level A1, A2 and B1 at Goethe-Zentrum Kampala for six months.  I got insights into the language structures of the Goethe Insitut-system including exam preparation collecting professional teaching material.

To get students engaged with German language I usually work with interactive methods. We start with a comprehensive introduction to the respective topic through work sheets, powerpoint or visuals. Then we apply what has been learned through playful games, conversation exercises or gap texts. My methodology is: First process, then apply! Teaching one-to-one means I am all there for you, you decide which topic you want to work on, which challenges you want to master and how often we should repeat a lesson.

I have been teaching German and Italian for over 15 years at a prestigious Canadian University as well as at a local language school. I have experience teaching all levels and age groups, both in-person and online. 

I aim to incorporate all 5 language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture) in every lesson. Besides teaching the five traditional language skills, I also believe in the importance of developing a sixth skill – strategy awareness and use. By teaching you learning strategies, I try to develop in you the autonomy you need in order to continue exploring the language independently.

I tend to adopt an eclectic approach, whereby depending on the situation, I borrow different techniques from a variety of teaching methods. My PhD in Applied Linguistics and ongoing research in second language pedagogy allows me to stay informed on the latest research developments in the field of second language acquisition and to adopt the most appropriate teaching practices for each teaching and learning situation.

In order to adapt the instruction to the learning context, it is important for me to know my students well. This allows me to account for different personal factors, such as the learners’ age, proficiency level, learning styles, personality, and individual needs. I try to provide a range of learning opportunities that can satisfy the needs of different students. I also believe that there is a time and place for a judicious use of learners’ first languages in the second language classroom. Knowing seven languages often allows me to help students build upon their preexisting linguistic knowledge by drawing parallels between their different native languages and the target language. 

Finally, I believe it is important to develop both learners’ fluency and accuracy. Therefore, I strive to find a balance between emphasizing communicative skills and focusing on linguistic forms. Thus, depending on learners’ needs and goals, I might choose to employ more implicit or more explicit teaching methods.

My ultimate goal as a teacher is to create a friendly and productive atmosphere, in which students have fun and progress in their learning journey.

My name is Beatrice, and I’m excited that you want to learn my native language, German, or Swiss German. 

For the last 11 years, I have taught German to colleagues and friends. In May 2022, I have started teaching German online and have helped several learners pass the Goethe-A2-Certificate, the Fidetest A2/B1 as well as the TELC-B1-Exam. I have an English, French and Spanish language certificate, and I have followed trainings for a German language teaching degree.  

It is important for me that you enjoy learning German, that I can help you in a well-understood and enjoyable way, and that you reach your goals. It is up to you what you wish to learn — if you need German for your profession, for traveling, or if you want to pass a Goethe or TELC language certificate. 

For many years, I lived in Germany, Switzerland and Spain. There, I worked in tourism as well as customer service in the front and back offices as an agent and team leader. Now I’m teaching online while traveling the world. My first destination is Spain, the Canary Island of Gran Canaria, and my second destination is the Island of Malta.

My hobbies are learning and teaching languages, traveling, reading, writing, yoga, hiking, swimming and dancing.
