Hoi! I'm Amarins originally from the Netherlands, but now living in Spain.
After helping my Australian boyfriend passing the Dutch 'inburgeringsexamen' and working as a coach in my previous job, teaching Dutch online was a logical step. Helping others improving their Dutch while working with different nationalities really brings me joy. Now I would like to help you!
My approach to teaching depends on you as a student and your goals . For my students who are just starting to learn Dutch I use an online program in which you can practice outside lessons as well. We also focus on speaking a lot so you can make connections with your friends, in-laws or neighbors. For my more experienced students, I adapt the lessons to your needs too. Whether it is preparing for an exam, wanting to master the different past tenses or needing more specific vocabulary for an internship, I am here to help you.
With my patience I encourage you to express yourself more confidently in Dutch while enjoying the process.
I would love it if you book a trial lesson now so we can start working together on reaching your Dutch goals!

Hello! My name is Hiltje,
I am a Dutchie and have been living in Romania since 1997. I would love to teach you my mother-tongue "Nederlands".
I like to impart Dutch daily-life culture, history, and traditions in our lessons and conversations. As a professional speech therapist, I enjoy working one-to-one, and preparing a program just for you! You may be a kid, a teenager or an adult, a beginner or already advanced. My passion is teaching you to speak, write, and read Dutch while simultaneously developing your practical listening and grammar skills.
I have lot of materials and expertise to help you prepare for ALL the official Nt2 exams, which I like to share with you! I also tutor schoolchildren in German, English and Romanian with their homework (and naturally Dutch and Frisian for my own kids 🙂).
In your first lesson, we will establish your learning goals, how we will reach them together and what means we will use.
So if you want to learn Dutch just for fun, for family, for work, for traveling, or for study, I would love to support and tutor you!
See you online soon

I'm a Belgian girl, and I love playing the violin, reading, decorating, going to museums & concerts and much more! I'm very interested in languages and cultures, so this is why I want to share mine with you. I taught myself Spanish, which gave me a lot of insight about what is helpful when learning a language. I hope to see you soon!

Bonjour à tous ! Hallo iedereen!
Being born in Belgium, I grew up in a multilingual (French/Dutch) context. Early on at school I already discovered my interest in language and culture which grew out to a passion for language, food and travel. I am now living abroad, teaching online classes.
I've been a teacher for 9 years now. I gathered my theoretical knowledge during my academic education (Master of Arts in Linguistics and Literature French/Spanish). However, it is mostly my practical experience which allows me to provide practical and hands-on tutoring (Specific Teacher Training in Languages and 9 years of experience as a teacher).

Hi :)
My lessons are constructed from a variety of exercises that I will assemble according to your needs. In the introduction we will establish your current level followed to marking your personal goal. In our 'real' lessons there is time for explanations on all the topics that concern you (grammar, vocabulary, orthography, speech, sentence construction, etc.), followed by some personalised exercises. We will do some of them together during our lessons, so I can support you and explain them. And then I will give the rest to you so you can practice at home in your own time. Together we will definitely tackle your goal.
I strive to talk Dutch in our lessons, but if need be I can give explanations in English or in German.
Hope to see you soon!

Hi! My name is Tanja, I'm 38 years old and I've been teaching Dutch since the beginning of 2019.
My teaching style highly depends on your level and goals. Are you a complete beginner? Then my lessons will be very structured providing you with all knowledge and skills needed for initial conversation. The more your levels grows, the more we'll try to get you out of your comfort zone and implement extracurricular activities.
If you are an intermediate speaker, I still like to use a book as a common thread to make sure that your grammar/sentence structure keep on improving and your 'internal dictionary' keeps on growing. However, we will loosen up much more. Eventually, the important thing is that you talk. Spontaneous conversation gives lots of opportunities to learn new USEFUL words and detect errors/difficulties.
Some of my advanced students like to keep on working with a book, usually the ones that enjoy studying grammar and doing more traditional homework. Others just want to practice conversation, either guided by discussing a wide range of topics that I will provide, or, some really just want to master the typical Dutch 'een beetje kletsen' (small talk).
I usually work with 'Nederlands in Gang' (A0-A2), 'NL in Actie' (A2-B1), 'NL op Niveau (B1-B2). Additionally, I will provide extra grammar practices and of course there is the internet filled with articles, videos, etc.
I hope to see you soon in class!

99.8% of lesson ratings are 5 stars. Why? Because unlike other platforms, we accept only the top 10% of tutor applications.
To see our full FAQs or get help from our friendly team, click the '?' in the corner of the screen. You can also watch students talking about their experiences learning via LanguaTalk below.
1-on-1 lessons are perhaps the best way to improve speaking skills, and because of this many students use LanguaTalk to learn to speak Dutch fluently. That said, some people have other, more specific goals. Let your tutor know what your goals are and they'll tailor the lessons to your personal needs. Most tutors can help with any of the following:
Most of the Dutch tutors on our site are able to teach students of all levels. When you click on a tutor's profile you'll see if certain levels are not supported. For example, certain tutors cannot teach complete beginners.
Likewise, you can also see on the tutor's profile whether they're suitable for all ages. Lessons are sometimes taken via LanguaTalk to support school/college studies. Usually, the tutor will be able to customise the lessons to follow the material and topics covered in the student's exams. Note that as per our Terms & Conditions, students who are under 18 must get permission from a legal guardian before booking.
New to LanguaTalk? You'll have one credit for a free trial. Most tutors offer a trial for free. If they do not, they’ll offer a trial session at a discount compared to their usual hourly rate.
Trial sessions are 30 minutes. They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in Dutch as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too! Book a trial today to see if taking Dutch lessons on Zoom/Skype works well for you.
After your session, if you feel that the tutor isn’t quite right for you, you can simply book a trial with someone else.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can make fast progress. Communicating via video call, you’ll be able to talk to your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experience, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
The vast majority of students take 55-minute lessons. But some tutors also provide the option of 30-minute lessons. If they do, you’ll see this noted on their profile (below their pricing and above the ‘Buy Lessons’ button).
55-minute lessons are recommended for most students. In general, we only suggest considering 30-minute lessons if they’re for your child, or you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
The beauty of taking lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. To see tutors who are likely to fit your weekly schedule, use the availability filter at the top. Then when you see a tutor you like, check their profile calendar to make sure their time slots work for you. Some tutors have limited availability as they already have lots of students.
We want students to have an exceptional learning experience on LanguaTalk, so we only accept the very best tutor applications. Though we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills, personality and reviews from previous students. Almost all of the tutors are native speakers of the language they teach, and they can speak English too.
Each tutor is unique - they have different backgrounds, strengths, teaching methods and personalities. So we suggest you browse several profiles to find the right tutor for you.
Our booking system is designed to be easy to use. You can see tutors' available slots in your local time zone. If you choose to book lessons with a tutor, you'll be able to buy them one at a time, or purchase in bulk with a volume discount. You can pay securely by card on our website.
You can manually add bookings to your personal calendar, or if you use Google calendar, you can add bookings automatically with our syncing feature. You'll also be able to receive email reminders to help ensure you don't forget to turn up.
You can reschedule or cancel lessons in a couple of clicks. Please note that this can be done up to 24 hours before the lesson time. We have this policy to be fair to tutors, who cannot replace lessons at the last minute and need some form of income protection.
Dutch lessons via Zoom/Skype tend to be cheaper than face-to-face because the tutor doesn't need to travel. Online Dutch tutors may cost between $14 to $50 per hour, but be aware that very cheap tutors on certain websites may lack experience. On LanguaTalk, Dutch tutors typically charge between $14 and $40 per hour.
Of course, receiving Dutch tutoring via Zoom or Skype is not the cheapest way to learn; you could learn via a free app instead. But if you're serious about learning, nothing beats 1-on-1 Dutch lessons with a great teacher.
According to the Foreign Service Institute, if you already speak English, Dutch is one of the easiest languages to learn. The exact amount of time it will take you to become fluent will depend on many factors, such as your current level, your knowledge of similar languages, your capacity to learn, how you study, and how intensively you study. Some students who take multiple Dutch lessons on Zoom/Skype each week will be able to go from beginner to conversational fluency within a couple of months. Others will take longer. Combining 1-on-1 lessons with an online Dutch tutor with regular self-study is an effective way to learn Dutch fast.
Most tutors offer both Skype and Zoom as options for the lessons. If they only offer one of these, this will be stated on their profile. Both tools are free, easy to use and perfect for language learning. They allow you to do everything you would do in a physical classroom: speak, listen, read, write, and share learning materials. Your tutor will typically write corrections directly in the chat area so that you can later revise everything you’ve learnt.
Most Dutch tutors using Skype/Zoom also use other technologies and resources to enhance the learning experience, for example Google Docs (for real-time collaboration), videos, and PowerPoint slides. If you're unable to take the Dutch lessons via Zoom or Skype, please contact our support team and we’ll get in touch with the tutor you're interested in to see if they're able to use an alternative video technology, such as Google Meet.
Students sometimes feel unsure about learning online because they think it won't be as effective as learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a strong relationship with their tutor.
Once you start a video call with your chosen Dutch tutor on Zoom/Skype, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. They’ll usually also share learning resources with you (using Google Docs, YouTube etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time.
There is no 'best way' to learn a language - it depends on many factors, such as your needs, level and budget. If you can't afford to take 1-on-1 Dutch lessons on Zoom/Skype, you can use a free app like Duolingo to build your vocab. And to improve your listening skills, you can try watching TV and listening to podcasts in Dutch. But to learn how to actually speak a language, you need to talk to a native speaker on a regular basis and receive accurate feedback so that you improve. If you want to make fast progress, it's best to take private lessons that are tailored to your personal needs by an experienced teacher.
