Hello! My name is Hiltje,
I am a Dutchie and have been living in Romania since 1997. I would love to teach you my mother-tongue "Nederlands".
I like to impart Dutch daily-life culture, history, and traditions in our lessons and conversations. As a professional speech therapist, I enjoy working one-to-one, and preparing a program just for you! You may be a kid, a teenager or an adult, a beginner or already advanced. My passion is teaching you to speak, write, and read Dutch while simultaneously developing your practical listening and grammar skills.
I have lot of materials and expertise to help you prepare for ALL the official Nt2 exams, which I like to share with you! I also tutor schoolchildren in German, English and Romanian with their homework (and naturally Dutch and Frisian for my own kids 🙂).
In your first lesson, we will establish your learning goals, how we will reach them together and what means we will use.

I have had 4 lessons so far with Hiltje and I am very pleased with her approach, her patience and willingness to adjust to my pace and level. She uses many interesting and useful resources to explain terminology and grammar. She also pays attention to my pronunciation, guiding me to the right way of speaking Dutch. Although I am not able to speak freely yet, except from some simple phases, I am confident that I will make good progress with the proper guidance and a lot of practice. I am happy to have found this platform and to have been able to start my Dutch tutoring lessons with Hiltje. Thank you, Hiltje and looking forward to our next lessons!

Hiltje did a great job assessing where my kids were with their Dutch. We split the lesson into parts on her advice and taught the kids separately. Hiltje adapted very well to their level, playing games with them while teaching them different areas of vocabulary and building their confidence. The kids are excited for their next lesson!

First lesson with Hiltje today. I have been learning Dutch for a few years and I really enjoyed the lesson. Hiltje really explains the grammar well and the materials used are very well written.
