Hello, my name is Nataliia . Teaching German is not only my job, but also my hobby, which makes me a happy person. I will be happy to share this happiness with you during exciting and not at all boring German lessons!
The lessons with me are a complete immersion in the world of the fascinating German language. I only use authentic materials (books from Klett, Hueber, Cornelsen; blogs, music, videos by Germans), lots of interactive exercises, games. Lessons are based on the student's preferences, so I select the material individually, depending on the student's wishes and hobbies. I organize the lessons so that 80% of the lessons are spoken by the student. We have conversations, discuss current problems in the life of Germans and other peoples. Lessons with me is not only learning a foreign language, but also constant self-development, improvement in various areas of knowledge.

Hello!
My name is Anna, I'm from Switzerland. I currently live in Ecuador.
After completing my Bachelors degree for teaching in 2015, I started teaching German, but also English and French.
My courses are based on the level, goals and interests of the student. I focus especially on communication. For beginners, we start with structured sentences and everyday topics. I often talk to advanced students about interests and factual topics. I adapt my courses to the student and according to his/her needs we do vocabulary training, grammar exercises, writing or other tasks. That way allows you to advance quickly and improve your language skills remarkably.
I work with various materials, including a teaching aid that I will share with you online for free.
I love to travel and languages are very important to me. Next to my German classes, I teach yoga workshops, love to read and write, make music, go hiking or travel.
Through my education and travel I have learned a variety of languages including English, Spanish and French. So I know that learning a language can be challenging, but it is totally worth it and a lot of fun!
Let’s get started!
I am looking forward to meeting you!
Anna

German version:
Hallo!
So machst du schnell Fortschritte.
Ich arbeite mit verschiedenem Material, darunter mit einem Lehrmittel, das ich dir kostenlos online zur Verfügung stellen kann.
Neben dem Unterrichten gebe ich Yogaworkshops, lese und schreibe gerne, mache Musik, gehe wandern oder reise. Es ist zugleich herausfordernd und schön, eine Sprache zu lernen und es macht viel Spass!
Ich freue mich darauf, dich kennenzulernen!

I am a qualified native German teacher (PGCE) from a town near Dortmund and I have been teaching German as a foreign language for over 30 years in a Grammar school setting in Northern Ireland. I have experience in the following: -
My teaching is as varied as my students are. I often use the online version of the textbook recommended by the Goethe Institute "Berliner Platz" A1, A2 and B1 level. I adapt my learning style to suit individual needs should you prefer conversational German or a more grammar focused lesson. I make the lesson enjoyable by including up to date teaching materials and refer to websites that will give the learner an insight into German culture as well, whenever possible, play quizzes such as Kahoot.

I do not only teach languages to earn money, it is my passion to teach, to have conversations with people from various countries, to allow someone to learn a new language, to open doors in this global world.
I am a German native, single mom of 2, with more than 10 years of teaching experience and about 20 years of tutoring experience. I have been teaching online for more than 6 years, but also taught in colleges, language schools and many private settings.
I have lived in the US for 7 years and came back to Germany in 2017. In 2020 I decided to become a full-time online teacher. I teach grammar, vocabulary, prepare you for tests and also for interviews, small talk or travels. I enjoy conversations as much as exam prep.
I would love to teach you soon! Please watch my video and book a trial session with me!

Hello! My name is Simon and I come from Germany. For many years, I lived abroad, working and studying in East Timor, Italy, Russia, Jordan and France. Living abroad, I always struggled not knowing the local language and developed a passion to do my best and learn these languages.
Today I speak 7 languages. To get there, I developed many techniques and methods that helped me improve my grammar, understanding and speaking. Since I started teaching, I have helped more than 50 people and gathered over 2000 teaching hours of experience. I hope to share these techniques with you and help you reach your language learning goals.
Learning a languages is a unique experience. Everybody has a different story for learning German. You may need to pass a German exam to enter university or work in Germany, you may have German friends or family and want to learn more, or you may simply enjoy learning German.
For each of you, there is an individual plan waiting that meets these situations, expectations, and goals. Whether you are learning for fun, for an exam, or for travelling, we will practice the types of conversations, vocabulary, and grammar that you will need most.
Most of all, we will have fun and learn together!
I am looking forward to our first lesson! Until then, best wishes, Simon

Hi! I'm Tabea. I was born in Heidelberg (Germany) and I grew up in Spain, so I am bilingual in German and Spanish.
I started working as a German tutor in 2017, while I was still travelling a lot between Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece and the UK. I soon found out that I really enjoyed online teaching, since I had the chance to meet people from all over the world. I love learning things about other cultures and languages, as well as improving my teaching skills.
My lessons are quite flexible: I believe there is not only one method for learning a language. Students can be very different and even one person won't feel the same way every day. Therefore I take care to adapt each lesson to my students' needs. Do you feel you need a little help in conversation? Let's pick different topics and practise your speaking/listening abilities. Or are you stuck with grammar? Let's sit down and answer all your questions step by step.
German is a very rich language and sometimes it can be challenging, so there might be ups and downs on the road. But the harder you push yourself, the more rewarding it will be when you reach your goals!
If you are interested in taking German lessons, I'd love to meet you for a trial session!

I have been teaching German and Italian for over 15 years at a prestigious Canadian University as well as at a local language school. I have experience teaching all levels and age groups, both in-person and online.
I aim to incorporate all 5 language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture) in every lesson. Besides teaching the five traditional language skills, I also believe in the importance of developing a sixth skill – strategy awareness and use. By teaching you learning strategies, I try to develop in you the autonomy you need in order to continue exploring the language independently.
I tend to adopt an eclectic approach, whereby depending on the situation, I borrow different techniques from a variety of teaching methods. My PhD in Applied Linguistics and ongoing research in second language pedagogy allows me to stay informed on the latest research developments in the field of second language acquisition and to adopt the most appropriate teaching practices for each teaching and learning situation.
In order to adapt the instruction to the learning context, it is important for me to know my students well. This allows me to account for different personal factors, such as the learners’ age, proficiency level, learning styles, personality, and individual needs. I try to provide a range of learning opportunities that can satisfy the needs of different students. I also believe that there is a time and place for a judicious use of learners’ first languages in the second language classroom. Knowing seven languages often allows me to help students build upon their preexisting linguistic knowledge by drawing parallels between their different native languages and the target language.
Finally, I believe it is important to develop both learners’ fluency and accuracy. Therefore, I strive to find a balance between emphasizing communicative skills and focusing on linguistic forms. Thus, depending on learners’ needs and goals, I might choose to employ more implicit or more explicit teaching methods.
My ultimate goal as a teacher is to create a friendly and productive atmosphere, in which students have fun and progress in their learning journey.

Are you looking for someone to simply talk to and practice German? My teaching style is engaging, patient and creative. I am practiced in teaching teenagers (16 and older) and adults. I have lived in the United States for 7 years. Therefore, I am experienced with different language environments and the challenges of studying another language.
My focus lies mainly on conversation. I help you to form sentences and to learn new words from all kinds of interesting topics. In so doing, I help you to become confident in German. Having fun while learning a new language is one important pillar to my experience. I give my best to create an atmosphere that helps you to engage in conversations with me and with others. Occasionally I use individually prepared worksheets as a support for our conversations.
I generally focus on the individual needs of my students. Be it preparing for a job interview, getting ready to live in a German speaking country, or learning German just for fun, I adjust my lessons to whatever you need so that you are able to speak, to read and to write in German. I am also happy to figure it out together in case you need help with the right approach.
So, in case I made you a little curious … Why do you not book a trial lesson with me and give it a try?

I am a qualified German/Swiss German teacher with seven years of online language teaching experience. Since 1999, in the UK, I have worked in different fields. I started my career as a violinist (Bachelor in Music Pedagogy, Advanced Diploma of Performance), performing as a freelance musician in orchestras (Switzerland) and as a chamber musician, and teaching and preparing young students for ABRSM Grade Exams in the UK. Then, I got into the London film and acting scene and did various supporting gigs at UK Film Studios and on sets in London. In 2017, I trained as a Language Teacher in connection with staying in South Korea, which gave me a new perspective regarding new technologies and online teaching, being geographically independent. In July 2024, I graduated in Law and aspire to train as a barrister, working in courts.
I appreciate being able to communicate with students around the world. I have prepared students for Goethe A2 - C1 exams and Swiss Citizenship Exams, lessons are individually tailored to help students reach their language goals, and we work with German learning books, online videos and texts, media and literature (Easy Readers). There are fewer teaching materials for Swiss German, we use Hoi zäme or voCHabular, both Züridütsch materials or Sali Zäme, Basel dialect. There are also Bern dialect books or song texts, but it's always a bit of a search and mix and match. If you like a clear structure I suggest you learn German up to about B1 and then try your luck at Swiss German!;)

Hello and welcome :-) Hallo und willkommen :-)
My name is Beatrice, and I’m excited that you want to learn my native language, German, or Swiss German.
For the last 10 years, I have taught German to colleagues and friends, and since February 2023, I have been teaching German online. So far, I have helped an A2 and a B1 student pass their TELC German certificates in Summer 2023. I have an English, French and Spanish language certificate, and I'm following training for a German language teaching degree.
It is important for me that you enjoy learning German, that I can help you in a well-understood and enjoyable way, and that you reach your goals. It is up to you what you wish to learn — if you need German for your profession, for traveling, or if you want to pass a Goethe or TELC language certificate.
For many years, I lived in Germany, Switzerland and Spain. There, I worked in tourism as well as customer service in the front and back offices as an agent and team leader. Now I’m teaching online while traveling the world. My first destination is Spain, the Canary Island of Gran Canaria, and my second destination is the Island of Malta.
My hobbies are learning and teaching languages, traveling, reading, writing, yoga, hiking, swimming and dancing.
Let’s book a trial lesson with me and talk about your goals.

My name is Denise and I am a native German speaker and certified teacher for German as a foreign language. I have taught more than 2,000 classes online with people from all over the world. As a language learner myself (I am learning Spanish), I know how difficult and sometimes frustrating it can be. Are you learning German, but you cannot hold simple conversations? Do you have difficulties understanding native speakers? Start communicating in German, think in German, and feel confident speaking German. Learn grammar, new vocabulary, and typical phrases while you build confidence in speaking.
Learning German with me feels like chatting with a friend. Together we'll train to compare opinions, share experiences, and more by using topics related to you. Talking about your life and interests will make learning fun.
My conversational training concept depends on your level and your language learning goals. As your teacher, I can help you talk about your daily life and interests or express ideas and feelings. Also, I will give you texts or articles to discuss during class. This way, I will introduce you to new vocabulary, which we will practice immediately. I like to ask tons of questions to give you as much space to talk in German as possible.
Together, we will boost your communication skills, not only the language.

Learning German must be fun and if you can stay focused, motivated, you will make progress and succeed. That is my job, to help your reaching your goals. First, we will get to know each other so that I know what kind of learner you are, what you like, what your goals are and then I will design the perfect lesson plan for you. You need to learn German for school, study, work or to pass exams? No problem, I can help you. My main goal is that you can use the language, in everyday life, the language must be alive and from the first lesson, I can assure you, you will start to communicate in German.
I have been teaching this wonderful language for 11 years and I am certified by the “Goethe Institut”. I love languages and music. I think that learning makes us grow and be better people. We learn something everyday and that keeps us alive.
I am looking forward knowing you, bis bald, tschüss

1-on-1 lessons are perhaps the best way to improve speaking skills, and because of this many students use LanguaTalk to learn to speak German fluently. That said, some people have other, more specific goals. Let your tutor know what your goals are and they'll tailor the lessons to your personal needs. Most tutors can help with any of the following:
Most of the German tutors on our site are able to teach students of all levels. When you click on a tutor's profile you'll see if certain levels are not supported. For example, certain tutors cannot teach complete beginners.
Whilst the majority of tutors offer Zoom German classes for adults, you’ll see on profiles that only some of them are suitable for kids and teenagers. If your son/daughter wants to take lessons to support their school/college studies, you can optionally provide the tutor with the materials or topics covered. Please note that as per our Terms & Conditions, students who are under 18 must get permission from a legal guardian before booking.
New to LanguaTalk? You'll have one credit for a free trial. Most tutors offer a trial for free. If they do not, they’ll offer a trial session at a discount compared to their usual hourly rate.
Trial sessions are 30 minutes. They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in German as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too! Book a trial today to see if taking German lessons on Zoom works well for you.
After your session, if you feel that the tutor isn’t quite right for you, you can simply book a trial with someone else.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can make fast progress. Communicating via video call, you’ll be able to talk to your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experience, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
The vast majority of students take 55-minute lessons. But some tutors also provide the option of 30-minute lessons. If they do, you’ll see this noted on their profile (below their pricing and above the ‘Buy Lessons’ button).
55-minute lessons are recommended for most students. In general, we only suggest considering 30-minute lessons if they’re for your child, or you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
The beauty of taking lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. To see tutors who are likely to fit your weekly schedule, use the availability filter at the top. Then when you see a tutor you like, check their profile calendar to make sure their time slots work for you. Some tutors have limited availability as they already have lots of students.
We want students to have an exceptional learning experience on LanguaTalk, so we only accept the very best tutor applications. Though we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills, personality and reviews from previous students. Almost all of the tutors are native speakers of the language they teach, and they can speak English too.
Each tutor is unique - they have different backgrounds, strengths, teaching methods and personalities. So we suggest you browse several profiles to find the right tutor for you.
Our booking system is designed to be easy to use. You can see tutors' available slots in your local time zone. If you choose to book lessons with a tutor, you'll be able to buy them one at a time, or purchase in bulk with a volume discount. You can pay securely by card on our website.
You can manually add bookings to your personal calendar, or if you use Google calendar, you can add bookings automatically with our syncing feature. You'll also be able to receive email reminders to help ensure you don't forget to turn up.
You can reschedule or cancel lessons in a couple of clicks. Please note that this can be done up to 24 hours before the lesson time. We have this policy to be fair to tutors, who cannot replace lessons at the last minute and need some form of income protection.
German lessons via Zoom tend to be cheaper than face-to-face because the tutor doesn't need to travel. Online German tutors may cost between $14 to $50 per hour, but be aware that very cheap tutors on certain websites may lack experience. On LanguaTalk, German tutors typically charge between $14 and $40 per hour.
Of course, receiving German tutoring via Zoom or Skype is not the cheapest way to learn; you could learn via a free app instead. But if you're serious about learning, nothing beats 1-on-1 German lessons with a great teacher.
According to the Foreign Service Institute, if you already speak English, German is one of the easiest languages to learn. The exact amount of time it will take you to become fluent will depend on many factors, such as your current level, your knowledge of similar languages, your capacity to learn, how you study, and how intensively you study. Some students who take multiple German lessons on Zoom each week will be able to go from beginner to conversational fluency within a couple of months. Others will take longer. Combining 1-on-1 lessons with an online German tutor with regular self-study is an effective way to learn German fast.
Students sometimes feel unsure about learning online because they think it won't be as effective as learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a strong relationship with their tutor.
Once you start a video call with your chosen German tutor on Zoom, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. They’ll usually also share learning resources with you (using Google Docs, YouTube etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time.
There is no 'best way' to learn a language - it depends on many factors, such as your needs, level and budget. If you can't afford to take 1-on-1 German lessons on Zoom, you can use a free app like Duolingo to build your vocab. And to improve your listening skills, you can try watching TV and listening to podcasts in German. But to learn how to actually speak a language, you need to talk to a native speaker on a regular basis and receive accurate feedback so that you improve. If you want to make fast progress, it's best to take private lessons that are tailored to your personal needs by an experienced teacher.
