Hi! I'm Jackie and I am a native English speaker from the United States with a passion for learning and teaching languages! I live in the rainy but beautiful United Kingdom. ☔ 🇬🇧 

I have a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education) in Modern Foreign Languages and have taught in the classroom and online since 2011. I love helping wonderful people around the world improve their English, reach their goals, and have fun doing it!

I have a warm and friendly personality and want you to feel comfortable in my lessons. I believe that language learning should be fun and something to look forward to! I will tailor my lessons around your interests and ambitions so that you stay motivated and can see the progress you make! 

During the trial or initial lesson together, I will find out about your specific aims and needs so that I can best help you achieve your goals. This might involve structured lessons with grammar and comprehension exercises or you may want more conversational lessons to improve your fluency and confidence. Additionally, we can work together to help you prepare for an English language examination such as the IELTS or TOEFL. If you are looking to improve your accent, I have a lot of experience helping students train their American English pronunciation using the linguistics knowledge I gained as part of my degree. No matter what your goals are, I can help you!

I use a variety of materials in my lessons including power point presentations, course books, and authentic articles and videos.

Finally, I think correcting mistakes is an important role of the teacher but I do this in a way that is kind and supportive. (I will not interrupt you and make you feel nervous!) I also send you a copy of the lesson notes after each lesson with all of the key vocabulary and corrections for you to review
