Hello, my name is Sally

I'm a TEFL certified British English speaker and I live in Wales.  I have been teaching English to children and adults for more than 11 years both in my home and online. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Geography and Management Studies and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.  Before becoming a teacher, I worked in Banking and Finance for 14 years in different management and training roles, so I have a good understanding of both teaching and business.

I have experience teaching students at all levels from beginners to advanced students. I listen carefully to what you want to achieve from your lessons, your goals, your interests and note areas for improvement and then my lessons are  individually created and carefully planned to meet your specific needs. Through encouragement and support,  my main priority is to improve your confidence and ability to communicate effectively with other English speakers. My existing online clients range from people learning English for pleasure to business professionals needing support with presentations and meetings. I believe everyone learns best in an environment which is relaxed, where mistakes are encouraged and we discuss topics which are interesting and relevant to you. 

I use a variety of different materials in our lessons such as photographs, news articles, reading texts, short listening clips, videos and podcasts. Each lesson or group of lessons will be related to a particular topic which promotes lots of speaking and discussion. I also think it it really important for learners to practise question asking during lessons and I encourage a two way  natural conversation style in lessons. 

Having started learning to speak French myself, within the last 4 years, I fully understand what it's like to learn a foreign language.  In my free time, I also enjoy playing tennis, golf and do yoga. I live in an area of beautiful countryside and I enjoy walking my dog in the local forests. I love to travel and explore new countries and landscapes around the world.
