Description: In Episode 9 Dr. Mike and I the Impact concussions have on potential ACL tears. The recent data that relates concussion to an increased risk of musculoskeletal injury is in line with prior studies that point to neurologic risk factors in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. Of particular relevance, noncontact ACL injuries have been associated with lower neurocognitive function in non-concussed athletes, which suggested that neurocognitive differences may be associated with the loss of neuromuscular control and coordination errors leading to increased risk of ACL injury.
