Description: Based on my recent post MERCY RULE, I feel compelled to tell more of the story. After my son and his team won their first soccer tournament, he received his first medal. He was/is so proud! Afterwards he asked me: “Why does it say participant on the back of my medal, and not winner”? I sat him down and gladly explained it to him. His response was priceless because even at his young age he seems to understand that you only should get a medal if you win, not if you simply show up (participate)!
