Podcast: Word of the Day
Episode: Antidromic
Description: Antidromic is an adjective that means traveling in a direction that is the opposite of normal.Â
Coming from Greek, our word of the day combines the prefix A-N-T-I, meaning ‘against.’ and the word dromos (DRO mose) which means ‘running.’ It’s a fairly recent addition to English, having just arrived in the early 20th century.Â
I often find that jogging in the opposite direction from my usual path is a good way to keep me on my toes. All that antidromic movement, if nothing else keeps things from getting boring.Â
