Podcast: Creole Explained
Episode: Louisiana's Creoles of Color & Black Francophones (Full)
Description: We often hear a lot of comparisons between Creoles and Cajuns. However, this discussion can get further complicated when we explore that the Creoles can be further divided by historical ethnic separations. At first, it was the Free People of Color vs the enslaved Black Francophones. After the civil war, the Free People of Color lost their distinction, as now everyone was free. Therefore, they needed something else to distinguish them- or at least they tried.
