Description: Lamentations is the 3rd book of the Major Prophets in the Christian Bible. In the Hebrew Bible it is in the Writings section. It is a set of 5 lament poems, 4 of which are acrostics using the Hebrew Alphabet, mourning the loss & destruction of Jerusalem and Judah by Babylon. Traditionally it is thought to have been written by Jeremiah. Chapter one focuses on how alone Jerusalem is, and how she can not be comforted.
