For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives. The whole idea of it is for the TRAINING of a child. God's primary way of chastening us is with HIS words. But we know that, all children are not the same. There are children who will learn by instruction in righteousness, but there are others whom instructions won't change. Other methods of training might help. The method essentially depends on the child.
