As in the time of the Egyptians when they were being brought out of bondage and into the Promised Land. Leaving the oppressive land and abuse did not mean they would be free of its negative influence. False pagan worship was everywhere, and evil was still present in the world. God promised if they would rely on Him and not rebel against His Word, then they would be protected and prosper.Â
