So today's dictation exercise is titled une soirée au cinéma or an evening at the cinema. If you are already used to dictations on Learn to French, you can simply go ahead and work on this exercise. The first step is to listen to the text.
So you don't have to write anything, simply listen. And the second step will be to grab a sheet of paper or open a Word document and start writing what you hear. I will be reading the text slowly with punctuation and this will give you the time to write without having to press pause every time. And the third step is to listen to the dictation 1 last time. I will be reading the text at a normal pace, but I will be adding in

So of course we are beginning with the word samedi, Saturday, but usually the days of the week do not have a capital letter at the beginning but this is a capital letter because it's the beginning of the sentence. So, samedi dernier, Je suis allée au cinéma. So this is passé composé, so the past tense in French. Je suis allée means I went. But you write it without an extra I at the end of the past participle, aller, because the narrator is male, remember?
So je suis allée au cinéma, at the movies or at the theatre, depending on where you come from. Avec mes amis, with my friends. Nous avons choisi de voir un film d'action. Nous avons acheté des billets. 2 words for tickets.
It's either TICKET or BILLET. Now usually you're going to use BILLET for basically the longer or the bigger tickets. So like cinema tickets or even plane tickets, train tickets, BILLET. You're going to use the word ticket for the small ones. So bus tickets for example.
Un ticket de bus. Et des pop-corn. So pop-corn is just like the English word popcorn. La salle. La salle is the theater.
It's where they're going to show the movie. La salle. Les effets spéciaux. Il y avait beaucoup d'effets spéciaux. So special effects.
Nous avons commandé des pizzas et des boissons. So we ordered pizza and des boissons. So drinks. Des boissons. It's beginning with a B and not with a P.
