Park talks with Teri Sloan, Development Director for Cafe Momentum Nashville, who shares the origins of their culinary internship program that supports local youth involved in the juvenile justice system ages 15-19 to develop self-sufficiency and self-advocacy through a tiered model. Tier 1 focuses on building relationships, assessing needs and introducing social/life skills and culinary skills through 48 hours of paid training. Tier 2 gives interns an opportunity to apply their new skills in paid shifts assisting with the nonprofit organization's catering events.
