First up is the battle of Brice's Cross Roads fought June 10th, 1864 in Mississippi in which a federal expedition force commanded by Samuel D. Sturgis was defeated by a Confederate force commanded by Nathan Bedford Forrest. This was part of what was known as "Forrest's Defense Of Mississippi."
