Description: לִמּוּד הַנִּגְלָהThe study of nigleh, לִמּוּד הַחֲסִידוּתthe study of Chassidus, וַעֲבוֹדָה בְּפוֹעַלand Divine service through actual avodah, כּוּלָּם כְּאֶחָד מוּכְרָחִים הֵמָּהare all equally necessary. וְלֹא זוּ בִּלְבָד דְּאֵינוֹ שַׁיָּךְ לוֹמַר שֶׁהָאֶחָד יִדְחֶה אוֹ יוּדְחֶה מִפְּנֵי חֲבֵרוֹNot only is it unthinkable to claim that any one of these should override or be overridden by another, אֶלָּא אַדְרַבָּא הֵם מְסַיְּיעִים זֶה לָזֶהbut rather, they should support one another. וּכְמַאֲמָר וְלֹא עַם הָאָרֶץ חָסִידAs the Sages taught, “An unlearned person cannot be pious ('a chassid’),” שֶׁצָּרִיךְ לִהְיוֹת לִמּוּד הַנִגְלָהindicating that the study of nigleh is necessary.אֵיזֶהוּ חָסִיד הַמִתְחַסֵד עִם קוֹנוֹAnd “who is pious (‘a chassid’)? One who acts with kindness to his Creator,” שֶׁצָרִיךְ לִהְיוֹת לִמּוּד הַחֲסִידוּתindicating that the study of Chassidus is necessary. וְתַכְלִית הַלִּמּוּד הֲלֹא הוּא הָעֲבוֹדָה בְּפוֹעַלAnd the ultimate goal of study is actual practice.Text and Translation co
