Description: The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar released findings of its much-awaited caste survey on October 2. The results revealed that people belonging to extremely backward castes and other backward castes constitute a whopping 63% of the stateโs total population. EBCs comprise 36.01% of the population, while the OBCs account for 27.12%. Of the OBC, Yadavs constitute 14.26% and Kushwaha and Kurmi form 4.27% and 2.87% of the population surveyed. The population of the general category stands at 15.52%. The survey further showed that Scheduled caste comprises 19.65%, while Scheduled Tribe makes up for 1.68% of the population.
