Description: מָצִינוּWe observe דְעִקָּר חִבָּתוֹ שֶׁל הקב"ה לְאַבְרָהָם אָבִינוּ עָלָיו הַשָּׁלוֹםthat G‑d cherished Avraham mainly הָיָה לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר יְצַוֶּה — כְּפֵרוּשׁוֹ יְחַבֵּר — אֶת בָּנָיו וְאֶת בֵּיתוֹbecause “he commands his children and his household.” Now, the word here translated “commands” (yetzaveh) can also mean “connect.” הַיְנוּThis implies דְּכָל גּוֹדֶל עֲבוֹדָתוֹ בְּהַנִּסְיוֹנוֹתthat all of Avraham’s prodigious endeavors in the face of his trials אֵינוֹ בְּעֶרֶךְ לְגַבֵּי הָא דִיצַוֶּה וִיחַבֵּר אֲחֵרִיםpale in comparison to his commanding and connecting others — מַה שֶׁיְּזַכֶּה אֲחֵרִיםby making them, too, meritorious.Text and Translation courtesy of Sichos in EnglishFor questions and follow-up: [email protected]
