Chronic absenteeism has been a huge problem for the US educational system since the pandemic ended. Educators and lawmakers are experimenting with different ways to solve the issue. One that Ohio state has come up with is to pay kids to go to school. If this policy is approved, the state government will run some tests among kindergartners and ninth graders. The students will be split up into two groups. One will get paid $25 for every two weeks of high attendance while the other will receive no pay at all. At the end of the study, schools will compare the attendance rates. I’m definitely curious about the outcomes of this experiment.
