A situation of "accidental travel" where a normal person from earth was transported to, reborn or otherwise trapped in a parallel universe, fantasy or virtual world. Filled with fantasy and RPG-like dynamics that were relevant to the boom in that time of online gaming and massive multiplayer communities, this genre spoke to that demographic like never before and grew it to what it is today.
