She drove me to a quiet hillside, out on the backroads of Eastern Kansas. And she turned off the ignition to the β48 Chevy pickup, opened the driverβs door, stepped outside, and said, βOK, slide over behind the wheel.β (for the sake of accuracy, it was either a β48 or β47 Chevy pickup) So, I did. And she climbed into the passenger side and announced, βYouβre gonna learn to drive a stick shift.β
