Though it’s based on the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz, and draws elements from the 1999 TV adaptation starring Shiri Appleby, it is not a pure remake of either. The newer series jumps ten years into the main characters' futures while reimagining much of their backstory, relationships and abilities.
