After leaving school she did a variety of jobs including double glazing salesmen and burger flipper, but at age 18 suffered from agrophobia, depression and anxiety. A doctor suggested getting a puppy to give her some structure and help get outside. Jo and her new labrador puppy went on a socialiastion journey, learning to explore the world together, and this helped Jo out of her depression.
