Melba Pearson is challenging Katherine Rundle Fernandez, Miami-Dade's corrupt and craven State Attorney who the local Democratic has asked to step down over her failure to prosecute abusive police. In one infamous case Rundle Fernandez exonerated the prison guards who essentially boiled Darren Rainey, a Black schizophrenic inmate, to death by keeping him in a scalding shower for two hours. In another case, she refused to prosecute a police officer accused of sexual assault. Her office only interviewed one of his alleged survivors.
