Episode: Business owners in Port au Choix are worried about the impending closure of the local bank
Description: Last week, we learned that the Bank of Montreal is closing its branch in Port au Choix this July, after over 50 years of operation. That will leave the town with only a credit union in the area to provide banking services. Customers who hope to stay with BMO will need to travel two hours to reach the nearest branch in Rocky Harbour, or two and a half hours to the branch in Deer Lake. We spoke with Port au Choix Mayor Donald Spence, pharmacist Dwanna Dobbin, and Shirley Spence, the owner of the Sea Echo Motel and Restaurant.
