Description: E. Harvie Ward is remembered as one of the greatest amateurs in golf history. A Tarboro, N.C. native, he won both the U.S. Amateur (1955, 1956) and the British Amateur (1952), plus the NCAA and Canadian Amateur titles. He competed in 10 Masters, finishing in the Top 24 four times, and played in the famous 1956 Pebble Beach match against Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson β called βThe Greatest Match Ever Played.βWard later became a respected teacher and mentor, coaching major champion Payne Stewart and inspiring countless golfers at Pine Needles in Pinehurst.
