Episode: Asian students help preserve World War Two Burma campaign memories
Description: The Burma campaign is remembered as one of the fiercest series of battles of World War Two. It claimed the lives of 190,000 Japanese soldiers as well as a large number of civilians. Over six decades, an annual Buddhist service has been held during July in western Japan's Wakayama Prefecture to pay tribute to those who died.
This year, as the service marked its 60th anniversary, attendees included a university student with roots in Myanmar — the country formerly known as Burma — as well as a historian from Singapore.
