Description: Earlier this month, the Department of Trade and Industry proposed to amend the National Credit Act when it placed a draft proposal for public comment. The amendment would see higher education institutions hand over student information to creditors and put students at risk of blacklisting for student debt and the department argued that the intervention would protect consumer rights.
