Description: Sometime between 1599 and 1602, the great playwright, William Shakespeare, penned Hamlet, a tragedy that is still being taught in English classes today. Just under 400 years later, Disney released The Lion King, an animated classic that simultaneously 'borrowed' from both Shakespeare and a Japanese anime called Kimba the White Lion. Despite this, The Lion King went on to become one of the most recognisable animated films of all time - eventually being adapted into a broadway musical, and, in 2019, a 'live-action' remake.
