Description: On this day in 1976, President Gerald Ford signed the proclamation βAn American Promise,β formally ending Executive Order 9066, which had led to the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII. And in 1940, Smokey Robinson was born in Detroit. He led the Motown group Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and later had a successful solo career, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
