春になると思い出すのが日本の桜。でもアメリカにも桜を鑑賞できる名所があるんです！アメリカ合衆国首都ワシントンDCの「全米桜まつり」そして全米最大規模といわれる桜の種類と本数があり、今年で50周年を迎えるニュージャージー州ブランチブルックパークの「桜まつり」。毎年行われるこの二つの「桜まつり」に行った時の思い出をお話します。また、番組後半にはブランチブルックパークの「桜まつり」メイン会場で行われたニューヨークを中心に精力的に活動している太鼓パフォーマンスグループ「僧太鼓」の迫力ある演奏をお聞かせします！！
When spring arrives, I always think of Japan's cherry blossoms. In the US, however, we have famous spots for cherry blossom viewing. I'll share memories from visiting these two annual festivals: the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., and the Cherry Blossom Festival at Branch Brook Park in New Jersey, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, which is the largest and most varied collection of Japanese flowering cherry blossom trees in the United States! Later in the program, I'll also bring you the powerful performance of the taiko drumming group “Sō Daiko,” based in New York and active throughout the region, which took place at the main stage of the Cherry Blossom Festival at Branch Brook Park!!
