Mulder is told about a case where a man murdered five people believing them all to be the same man, a war criminal featured on the news. As Mulder and Scully investigate, they discover his rampage may have been inspired by taped news broadcasts. As more people commit inexplicable murders, seemingly connected to the televsion, Mulder tries to determine the cause. Meanwhile, Scully becomes paranoid that Mulder is working against her.
