Back in April 1949 representatives from Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal & the US signed the agreement to deter an armed attack against them all. Some are saying we need NATO now more than ever. Stephanie Carvin, Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University weighs in.
