I am a native French teacher with multiple certifications, specializing in grammar, cultural conversation, and exam preparation.

I am certified by the Alliance Française and registered as a professional training provider. I am also a member of the Friends of the Château de Versailles and the Friends of the Château de Pau. History and culture play an important role in my life, and this naturally comes through in my lessons. These two dimensions are, after all, an integral part of any language.

📌 A few guidelines to keep things running smoothly :

✅ Personal work is essential. Too many students rely only on the teacher and remain passive. The key is not to work intensively, but regularly: 5 to 15 minutes a day is enough to make progress.
✅ To create an effective and pleasant learning environment, I ask for respect, discipline, punctuality, and consistency.
✅ Please check my calendar carefully. My schedule can be busy, and some time slots fill up quickly.
✅ In case of cancellation or rescheduling, please follow the platform’s rules. Late cancellations have a direct impact on my work.
✅ Finally, if working conditions are not met, I reserve the right to end our lessons. My goal is not to waste time, energy, or resources, but to offer serious and meaningful support.

I’ve been a professional French teacher since 2007. I taught French in various language schools, for big companies and at university. Since 2020, I’ve been teaching exclusively online. These experiences have allowed me to be in contact with different types of students, from children to adults, from beginner to proficiency, for leisure or business purposes or to prepare for the official French certifications (I’m also a DELF examiner). Therefore, I’m used to adapt to the needs and learning objectives of my students. This means that I can choose the right teaching material so that we can practice and progress according to your own goals and interests.

A little about me. I’m a native French speaker from Northern France, though my friends like to call me a “woman with a suitcase” because of my love for travel and exploring new places. Hello, My name is Julien, I come from Saint-Malo, a beautiful little town in Brittany in the northwest of France. 

I love traveling to discover new cultures and learn new languages.

For the trial lesson

• I will first share a Google Docs document with you. This will allow you to access lesson plans in advance and add your own notes throughout our sessions.
• In the first few minutes, I’ll ask you to introduce yourself and share your expectations for our lessons.
• We will start with simple exercises to assess your comfort level with grammar, reading, listening, and speaking.

If your main focus is speaking, we will engage in various speaking exercises to help you gain confidence in the language. If you're preparing for the DELF exams or any school/university assessments, we will target the areas you feel need the most improvement. A few years ago, when I was in bed at night and almost ready to sleep, I used to ask myself this question : "Why would people want to learn French? Are they crazy?"

Well... Are you? 

It definitely takes guts for someone to take the obscure path of French learning, especially when you know that almost no francophone can speak French perfectly. And it is this courageous desire detected in French learners that made me want to start teaching this language three years ago. In fact, besides the syntactic complexity of this language (which, by the way, is most likely to be a cliché), French is a very poetic language, as it allows countless accesses to figurative speeches (so if you tend to be a little sarcastic at times, this might be perfect for you). Plus, French is cool and sounds fancy too, so... 😗
