Me as a Teacher
I am a professional English teacher with more than 30 years of teaching experience mainly in US - NYC and UK - East Midlands. Initially as a college English and Maths teacher, these days I teach online. My learners are students who tend to improve their school grades, students who are preparing for international exams, business professionals who work or intend to work for international companies or people who learn English for pleasure.  For every individual I usually prepare some tasks for a free talk, grammar practice or a role-play situation with targeting vocabulary and phrases. There is always a summary, a given feedback at the end of the class which helps my learners to make progress highly visible.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe that every learner is different and teaching them should be personalized. I like to apply different teaching methods to see which one would be the most productive. Of course, I need to meet student several times to be able to find out his/her learning style and be able to create a teaching strategy. In my experience, an individual approach, a personalized topic and mutual effort definitely bring some fruit.

Hello! I'm Julian. I am from South Africa. I have a 420-hour TEFL Diploma (Level 5) which is equivalent to a CELTA-qualification. I specialise in Business English, Job Interview Preparation and Conversational Fluency. My speciality is helping business professionals express their ideas more clearly and confidently.

Active learning 👌 (= learning by doing) is the foundation of all my classes and is the best way to improve your English level. There are NO boring lectures in my classes. Some learning activities include:

✔ Mock job interviews that reflect the actual situation you will experience.

What started as a volunteering project in a French high school became my profession when I got my first job as an English teacher in a language school in Hungary. I gained a lot of experience there, teaching business English and everyday English courses for all levels, mostly for small groups of adults. When I started travelling, I moved on to teaching online, giving 1-to-1 lessons to adults from all over the world. Currently I am living in Italy, and while I'm working for a local language school, I keep teaching online because I travel a lot, and working remotely allows me to continue doing what I love, from anywhere in the world.

I have a Master's degree in Teaching English and a level 5 TEFL certification. I have been teaching for more than five years now, from Hungarian to French to Italian schools, as well as having students from many other nationalities through online teaching.

When you become my student I will ask about your goals, assess your level, and recommend a course book based on your level and needs. In case you would only like to practice communication or wouldn't like to learn from a book, we can also simply talk and occassionally use some worksheets to make the lessons more varied and enjoyable. All my lessons are generally very communicative – I try to stay in the background and correct you when necessary, and guide you through the exercises instead of giving you the answers. From experience I know that real learning happens when you figure things out for yourself, and not when you are passively listening for your teacher's explanations.:)

Hi, I am Harriet, a native English speaker and qualified teacher with over 20 years teaching experience.

The lessons are structured around you as an individual and start with finding out what you want to learn or improve and why. We will then agree a plan of interesting and challenging activities to help you meet your goals. I teach general conversation skills, including increasing confidence, and learning new vocabulary and Business English. I have helped many students successfully prepare for job interviews or to take on new roles. I can also help you prepare for language tests and focus on pronunciation.

The lessons will be lively and varied, using a range of methods, materials and contexts. We will regularly review your progress and goals and I will suggest activities outside of class to help you practice what you have learnt. Hello, my name is Nicoletta and I am a certified native English tutor from the small island of Cyprus. However, both my parents have British roots and I have grown up speaking English as my primary language. As a person who has always been interested in other countries and cultures, I have embarked on learning new languages myself in the last few years. Most recently Korean! I’m a qualified teacher with a bachelor’s degree and a CELTA qualification from Cambridge - for teaching English as a foreign language. I have over 30 years of experience teaching English in classrooms and online to ALL levels of learners.

I specialize in improving fluency and confidence in daily conversation at home and at work. My approach is holistic which means we will use relevant topics and speaking tasks to learn new words and practice language skills.

I understand that speaking English fluently and naturally is YOUR goal and that you might need help in a particular area – like grammar accuracy or pronunciation and intonation, or a wider set of active vocabulary. You may struggle with listening or reading or writing. These are all areas I can help you improve – once we have identified what you need.

We’ll use a shared document to record your growing vocabulary and highlight areas you need to fix. You will have a written record of every lesson with notes and tips that I will provide. Lessons will be conversational and fun but also informative. After every lesson you will get detailed and constructive feedback from me, so you know exactly what to work on.
