About me:

I’m Diana, a friendly and patient English teacher from the beautiful city of Cape Town currently living in Portugal. In 2017, I completed my TESOL and TEYLT trainings and since then I have worked with students from all around the world both in language schools and online. I have lived and taught English in 5 different countries (Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, Turkey and South Africa) to students of all levels (beginners to advanced). In 2021, I became certified to teach Ielts and have thus helped numerous students with  their exam preparations too.

I'm passionate about learning and teaching languages and have studied Portuguese, Spanish, German and Turkish. Through my own language studies, I have learnt that an active conversational approach is the best way to master a language! Some of my other passions include yoga, travel, food and art!:)

My lessons:

My approach to teaching depends a lot on the level and goals of the student. Each student is unique with different necessities so I don’t have a one size fits all proposition. Lessons are tailored to you and are adapted as you progress.Expect to receive a lot of feedback, corrections and if you would like, homework activities.

In our first class, we will have an introductory lesson where I do a speaking evaluation, we get to know each other and we discuss a future learning strategy. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send me a message :)

I am a professional teacher with many years of experience in teaching English to students studying English as well as adults who wish to improve their proficiency. I also offer specialised tutoring for students who are planning to write IELTS, British Council, AP or other English exams.

I am an experienced English Literature teacher and specialise in AP English Literature and Cambridge English and English Literature GCSE, AS and A level studies.

I have over 15 years of teaching experience with post-graduate degrees in English, Theory of Literature and Business Administration. My teaching experience includes most English syllabuses, including the AP, Cambridge, and Canadian curriculums.

My students receive individualized lessons based on their specific needs and goals.

I specialise in conversation classes for students who want to perfect their English speaking for business or personal reasons. I have many years of experience in business management which is why I offer business English to students who need proficiency in English, in the workplace.

I am based in South Africa although I spent many years teaching English in China, and I have experience of most English curriculums.

Hello! I'm Josh and I'm a TEFL certified native British English speaker from Cambridge in the United Kingdom. I've been working as an English teacher for more than 6 years, and I'm passionate about language learning and teaching. Over the years, I've studied German and Spanish, which has given me an insight into what it's like to learn a foreign language. Also, throughout my teaching career, I've had the privilege of meeting many people from around the world. This experience has allowed me to learn about different cultures, helping me to become a more considerate and open-minded person. Personally, I believe that this is one of the greatest strengths that a teacher of English as a foreign language can have. 

What am I like as a teacher?

I'm a disciplined individual with a strong attention to detail. My belief is that everyone has the potential to improve, so I aim to help my students reach their goals by being both encouraging and supportive. Whatever your reason(s) for learning English, my goal is to provide you with the ideal environment in which to improve your language skills. Also, I will do my best to be adaptable by adjusting my teaching style and the focus of our lessons to reflect your needs. What's the style of my lessons?

We'll use a variety of different materials to ensure that you have a well balanced and engaging English learning experience. To help you build confidence and improve your proficiency, we can use resources such as news articles, stories, other texts and videos. Alternatively, we can focus on improving your skills through natural conversation; it’s up to you. 

Regarding my teaching style, my priority is to make sure that you feel relaxed by being encouraging and supportive. Furthermore, I'll focus on helping you to correct your mistakes and speak English like a native speaker, which will improve the quality of your English communication. Rest assured that you have no need to be afraid of making mistakes because this will help you to improve your English more quickly.

Hi there! I'm teacher Dio and I have been a teacher for over a decade. I love what I do - I am passionate about languages. I speak 3 languages (Portuguese, Spanish and of course, English). I've lived in Germany, Ireland, and I just recently moved to Spain. I am telling you this because that means I KNOW how learning a language works.  

Something that is important to know is that you DON'T need to live in an English-speaking country to learn English effectively. Everything really is all about you taking some minutes of your day to study and to surround yourself with the language! I am a certified teacher and my experience over the years shows that you don't need to be brilliant, you just need to be committed in order to learn another language.

Some other info about me:

I am certified by the Cambridge University (CELTA), and I also hold a TEFL Certificate. I have been teaching English for over 10 years, and I have helped students from all around the world. Currently I offer two main courses:

- CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH - This course focuses on fluency, pronunciation, learning a lot of new vocabulary and preparing presentations about different topics! - There are lots of different topics and you can choose from!

- IELTS & FCE/CAE EXAM PREPARATION - I have a 25-lesson course that will teach you EVERYTHING you need to know to pass the IELTS/CAE exams with flying colors! - In addition to that, I have a lot of extra materials you can use to improve your grammar and writing skills!  

If your English level isn't very high, we can also discuss a course that will be aimed to give you a solid base so that you feel confident to express yourself in English.

Hello, I'm Irene, and I'm from California. I have a TEFL certificate from the University of Toronto.  

I provide minimal pairs testing, phonics training, and dictation/reverse dictation exercises to develop the first essential ability to hear English sounds. I help you build associations to recall the most common English words and phrases as we build a deck of flashcards together.  I also help you recall this new vocabulary by helping you study with your deck and with other images. I help you take this vocabulary and build interesting simple sentences to express your ideas. Then I can help you have conversations using the speaking topics from the IELTS exam, as well as conversations on the topics important to you. 

In all these lessons, translation from your native language is used carefully.   Translation can interfere with your ability to start thinking in English.

My name is Vicki and I am a CELTA-qualified English teacher for speakers of other languages. CELTA is the teaching certificate issued by Cambridge University. I specialize in Business and Academic English but I also teach general English classes as well. I have been teaching both group and private lessons for about two and a half years. I have an academic background (a Ph.D. in Social and Political Thought and a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Art History and Political Studies). My time at university has developed my understanding and use of the English language to an advanced level. I have taught students from all over the world and of all ages. I highly enjoy getting to know people from all around the world. 

I am a New Zealander living in Germany, and as a language learner myself (German and Maori), I know how important it is to enjoy the learning process and to feel safe to make mistakes. I am a very friendly and encouraging teacher and I strive to adapt my lessons to my students' specific needs, wants, and interests. I am also always upskilling as a teacher, participating in webinars and further training opportunities whenever possible in order to learn new teaching techniques. 

Students that take lessons with me also gain access to the Expemo App at no extra charge, enabling them to easily practice the new vocabulary after class as well. In my lessons, I use audio clips, videos, and readings. I also use authentic materials, such as news articles. You are also welcome to bring your own material to class to work on - for example an email you are preparing for work. 

In addition to language lessons, I can also help with editing texts such as scripts and emails.

Please note, that while I can understand a lot of German my spoken level is B1.
