Native Swedish speaker with a standard Stockholm accent. I have taught Swedish for a couple of years to students of various backgrounds, from teenagers learning Swedish at school to professionals moving to Sweden for work. I can help you practise conversation on both everyday and specialized topics, as well as reading, writing and grammar. If you want to prepare for the national language exam TISUS I have experience doing this as well. I love talking and listening to people, I’m really good at grammar and I have a huge vocabulary.
Most of my lessons are based on conversation, that is, we talk to each other and every now and then we take a little break to focus on some particular item of grammar or vocabulary which appears in the conversation. The conversation can be really simple or very complex, but it’s almost always fun! I take notes during the lesson and during subsequent lessons we use these notes to rehearse and develop particular themes.
It’s also fun to discuss peculiarities of Swedish culture, I have lived in several countries and will recognize and help you discover some strange aspects of living in Sweden. And if you are moving there and need help with some practicalities I am happy to do this as well.
As far as formal experience goes, I have university degrees in Classics, Philosophy and Mathematics and have worked as a qualified high school teacher in Sweden.

Hi, I'm Julian. I'm a Swedish tutor with over 500 hours of experience teaching online.
I am passionate about language and a language learner myself.
I come from a multicultural background and have experience living in 4 different countries. This has given me a lot of perspective on what situations people find themselves in when learning a language and I hope to transfer that into a smooth personalized learning experience for my students. Furthermore, I am always curious on new topics of conversation.
I hope to hear from you soon!

See Reviews From StudentsSome tutors on LanguaTalk may offer local lessons, but most only provide online lessons as it is more convenient and allows them to work from home. In addition, many tutors do not teach Swedish in Sydney as they live elsewhere in the world. If you book a lesson with a tutor, you should assume that it will be online unless the tutor specifically states that they offer in-person lessons in Sydney.
Sometimes students tell us that they're not sure about learning Swedish online because they think it’ll be completely different to learning face-to-face. But usually when they try it, they find that the experience is almost the same and they often build a solid relationship with their tutor.
Once you start a video call with your chosen tutor, you’ll be able to communicate with them as if you were in the same room. The tutor will typically also share learning resources with you (newspaper articles, YouTube, etc.) and you’ll be able to collaborate in real-time using a tool like Google Docs or Dropbox Paper.
There are several options for learning Swedish in Sydney, whether you live in the city center or the suburbs. You can use an app or software program to learn basic vocabulary and grammar. You can also join group lessons with Swedish tutors in Sydney if you prefer a social learning experience. Alternatively, you can take one-on-one lessons with a private tutor, which is more expensive but may be the most effective option if you have a good tutor. Learning online may make private tutors a more affordable choice. Prices vary based on the tutor, but are generally cheaper than in-person lessons in Sydney.
Our research indicates that the average cost for private Swedish lessons in Sydney is between $25-$35 per hour. Online tutors do not need to travel to you and often live in countries with a lower cost of living, so the hourly cost is generally lower.
If you prefer not to learn online with tutor, LanguaTalk may not be the right choice for you. Instead, you can search for tutor, we recommend giving online learning a try as it is often as good as in-person learning and allows you to access better tutors at a lower cost. You can also book a free trial session to see if it is right for you.
If you're new to LanguaTalk, we'll provide you with a credit for a free trial lesson. Many, but not all, tutors offer these for free. If they do not, the price will be reduced to 30 percent of their full lesson price, so you can still try a session at a minimal cost.
Trial lessons are 30 minutes long. They allow you to evaluate whether the tutor is a good fit for you and experience learning online. The tutor will assess your level and try to understand your needs and interests so they can customize any lessons you decide to take. You will be encouraged to speak in Swedish as much as possible, but you can also speak in English if needed.
If, after your trial lesson, you don't feel that the tutor is right for you, you can schedule a trial lesson with another tutor for 30 percent of their full lesson price.
Most students take 55-minute lessons. However, some tutors also offer the option of 30-minute lessons. If this is available, it will be noted on their profile (below their pricing and above the 'Buy Lessons' button).
In general, we recommend 55-minute lessons for most students. You may want to consider 30-minute lessons only if you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice, or if the lesson is for a child.
On LanguaTalk, you can find highly qualified tutors who offer personalized 1-on-1 Swedish lessons based on your goals and learning style. Here's how it works:

2 - Schedule a trial lesson. Many tutors offer a 30-minute trial for free, while others offer a discounted price.
3 - Take your personalized lessons with your chosen tutor via video call. Or, you can try a different tutor if you prefer.
You don't need to enter any payment information to book a free trial session. Please only book a trial if you are interested in taking lessons. Prices vary by tutor, and you can use filters to find a tutor who fits your budget. You can pay for each lesson individually or purchase multiple lessons at a discounted rate (view a tutor's profile to see their pricing options).
We're confident you'll enjoy learning with LanguaTalk. We are trusted by students around the world because of our transparency. We ask students to rate each lesson, and we display these ratings on the tutor's profile.
99.8% of lesson ratings are 5 stars. This is because, unlike other platforms, we only accept the top 10% of tutor applications.
