Hello! I'm Julian. I am from South Africa. I have a 420-hour TEFL Diploma (Level 5) which is equivalent to a CELTA-qualification. I specialise in Business English, Job Interview Preparation and Conversational Fluency. My speciality is helping business professionals express their ideas more clearly and confidently.

Hi, I’m Liz. I’m a native English speaker and I have spent most of my life living and working in London, England.

I have a CELTA qualification for teaching English as a foreign language, and I also have a BA in English Literature from a central London university.

My teaching experience has been predominately online in 1-2-1 lessons, but I also have experience teaching in person to groups of children at language camp in the UK.

I plan bespoke lessons specifically to meet your needs. During the trial, or initial lesson I will spend time getting to know you and thinking about how I can best help you to meet your goals. This may be by working together on a structured curriculum, or perhaps you need to focus on your speaking skills so you can improve your confidence.

I use a variety of materials, including course books, online exercises and news articles.

I have also helped some of my students to prepare for their English Literature exams, here in the UK, or internationally. I particularly enjoy these lessons as I am passionate about literature.

I have extensive experience in coaching and business, having run my own sports coaching business for 20 years.  I teach conversational English on a thematic basis (topic-related) with an emphasis on correct grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. I also teach Business English (job interviews, negotiation, presentations, time management, meetings etc). I prepare students for IELTS and TOEFL exams.  In every lesson, you will be encouraged to feel comfortable speaking English, whatever your level. All my lessons are specifically tailored to the individual student's needs and interests, and we work at your pace. Most language learners are working at different levels in the four pillars of reading, writing, listening and speaking, which is why private one-to-one lessons with a patient and sympathetic teacher are so valuable. You will see an improvement in a very short time once you commit to a structured programme of learning. Homework is optional, but recommended.          

I live in the South West of England, and I have a standard British accent. I speak Spanish reasonably well and a little French. I have spent 15 years learning Spanish so I know what it is like to lack confidence and to feel that you can't remember anything under pressure. But I also know what a joy it is to be able to communicate effectively.  It is also why I love teaching because I meet people from all over the world and I learn so much about other cultures and countries. 

In my spare time, I enjoy walking, reading, cooking and riding my motorbike!

Hi, I am Harriet, a native English speaker and qualified teacher with over 20 years teaching experience.

The lessons are structured around you as an individual and start with finding out what you want to learn or improve and why. We will then agree a plan of interesting and challenging activities to help you meet your goals. I teach general conversation skills, including increasing confidence, and learning new vocabulary and Business English. I have helped many students successfully prepare for job interviews or to take on new roles. I can also help you prepare for language tests and focus on pronunciation.

The lessons will be lively and varied, using a range of methods, materials and contexts. We will regularly review your progress and goals and I will suggest activities outside of class to help you practice what you have learnt. I am experienced in teaching beginners to advanced level students from teenagers to adults. I specialize in improving fluency and confidence in daily conversation at home and at work. My approach is holistic which means we will use relevant topics and speaking tasks to learn new words and practice language skills.

Me as a Teacher
I am a professional English teacher with more than 30 years of teaching experience mainly in US - NYC and UK - East Midlands. Initially as a college English and Maths teacher, these days I teach online. My learners are students who tend to improve their school grades, students who are preparing for international exams, business professionals who work or intend to work for international companies or people who learn English for pleasure.  For every individual I usually prepare some tasks for a free talk, grammar practice or a role-play situation with targeting vocabulary and phrases. There is always a summary, a given feedback at the end of the class which helps my learners to make progress highly visible.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe that every learner is different and teaching them should be personalized. I like to apply different teaching methods to see which one would be the most productive. Of course, I need to meet student several times to be able to find out his/her learning style and be able to create a teaching strategy. In my experience, an individual approach, a personalized topic and mutual effort definitely bring some fruit.
