Finding French classes in Chesham that are both effective and affordable can be tricky. Classes are typically in groups, meaning you have limited opportunities to speak. On top of this, you’ll often find certain students dominate the conversation, or ask the teacher endless questions!
LanguaTalk offers a more convenient and effective alternative: 1-on-1 online French classes with experienced native tutors. You won’t find these tutors available for face-to-face French lessons in Chesham. LanguaTalk finds the best tutors from around the world. They offer conversational French classes at cheaper rates because they don’t have to travel to you and they often live in countries with a lower cost of living.
Probably you’re thinking: but are online classes really as effective as face-to-face? You can book a no obligation 30-minute trial session (for free with most tutors) and see for yourself. Classes take place via video call, allowing you to communicate with your tutor and share learning materials, as if you were in the same room. And you can book classes for whenever it suits you.
Below, you can filter to tutors who have availability that fits with your Chesham time zone. Then watch videos, check reviews, and book a trial session.
If you have questions, you can click the 'Help' button in the bottom right. There, you’ll find answers to every question imaginable, and the option of contacting our support team.

Hello !
My name is Florence. I come from France and I am an experienced French teacher for foreigners, certified by the Alliance Française de Paris and hold a Master’s degree in FLE (french for foreigners) to teach you my mother tongue. I have experience teaching a wide range of adults from all continents and at all levels.
But also ... before starting to teach French full-time and because of a double technical and commercial training, I worked for a long time in marketing and international trade for companies in various sectors of activities: electrical construction, car accessories, shoes… I also created my own business to distribute my creations of costume jewelry.
I’m originally from the East of France, a small town near the Swiss border, and I've been around a lot! I have lived in different regions of France: from North to South, from East to West, from Paris to Nice, from Lyon to Albi. After living in Valparaiso, Chile, I returned to Europe and then settled in Spain for almost 15 years. Today, I live in Alicante with my family.
I hope to meet you very soon and share very pleasant sessions with you. Please note that I made the choice to teach online only to ADULTS.
See you soon !

Hi! I'm Méloée, I am 28 and I've been teaching French since 2015. I was born and grew up in Bretagne (North-West of France), lived for 7 years in Argentina, 2 years in Marseille (in the South of France) and I live now in Barcelona, Spain. I speak French, Spanish and English, and I am also currently learning Portuguese.
I teach to all levels and ages. Conversation classes, to prepare a trip, an exam, to learn from zero, to practice grammar... we'll see together what are your goals and preferences and I'll tailor my lessons to you.
In my experience the quickest and best way to progress is speaking and practicing a lot, so I always try to include a lot of practice in my lessons.
For example, a class may start with a text or video (more or less difficult depending on your level) to practice comprehension, then I'll ask you some specific questions about the document to see if you understood well and see the new vocabulary. Then I'll ask more generic questions around the theme of the video/text, so you talk about your opinion on the subject, related experiences... This way, you'll speak a lot and it allows me to identify easily if you may need some theoretical exercises on specific points.
I will always build my classes depending on your needs. If you are confortable using specifics learning methods or material, let me know and we will plan something together.
Let me you know if you have any questions, and I hope to see you soon!

Hello, my name is Marvin, I am French but I live in Galicia, west of Spain. I have been an online teacher for three years now during which I have given more than 1600 lessons. Also, I am currently finishing my master's degree in didactics to teach French. And before that, I graduated from the Alliance Française to be certified as a professional teacher.
During my lessons, I know how to be flexible to adapt to your needs and your personality. If you want conversation classes, we can discuss freely or prepare the session through an article or any other authentic document and I will bring you the necessary corrections over the course of the exchange. If you are looking to improve a particular language point, my goal will be to expose you to it and help you determine how it works. In addition, thanks to my knowledge of the different levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, I can adapt my level of French as well as the topics worked on to each person. My students highlight that I am very patient and also reactive and precise in answering their various questions.
I myself have experience in language learning. I speak English and Spanish at an advanced level, I have some notions of German and Japanese and I am currently learning Galician. I am therefore aware of the different stages in learning a language and I will be able to help you both from my point of view as a teacher and as a student.

Bonjour,
I'm Romain, I provide Online Private French Lessons for adults & kids.
I'm the creator of a visual method that uses symbols to represent words, tenses, and grammatical aspects, representing each word with a clear and obvious symbol, helping your brain to memorize and make complex sentences.
This tool is great for people who want & need to visualize what they’re learning.
Moreover, illustrations make your learning experience more fun, easier, but also incredibly effective.
With those symbols placed side by side, the student will start to talk from the very first class guaranteed! Kids learn their native language visually, why would we use another method with adults?
For the past 10 years, I've been teaching French in NYC (Tribeca School), in Shanghai (Fudan University) & Rio de Janeiro.
I have a lawyer degree but I followed my passion for languages and teaching French is my main activity.
Why should you study with me?
I have observed that some of my students have learnt French in school for many years, some could write and read, but mostly they couldn't speak French.
That's why I've created a visual teaching method that works principally with your visual memory, because my first goal is to speak with you as soon as possible only in French.
For more advanced students, the program includes the study of:
- Slang.
- Songs
- French expressions & their origins.
- Grammar points and different tenses
- Broaden your vocabulary in various current events topics
- Develop your listening comprehension skills, we'll study some famous French movies dialogues and songs to train your comprehension.
- Refine your pronunciation and your accent
- Expand your knowledge of French history (one of my passions), culture and society.
I quickly grasp the strengths and weaknesses of my students, and I like to challenge them during the class so the lesson is neither too easy nor too hard. I also adapt my lessons according to your needs.
I just need to know your wishes, and I will prepare every time a special lesson for you, in accordance with your interests.
I'll help building your confidence, did you know what a foreign accent is? It’s a sign of bravery!
I can speak English, Portuguese, Spanish & Mandarin to give explanations in your native language when it is needed.
à bientôt (à bientôt)

Bonjour!
I'm Tina! Originally from Paris, France, where I lived for most of my life, I’ve been living overseas for the past 10 years and currently in beautiful British Columbia, Canada!
I've been a full time tennis coach for 16 years in several countries and changed careers 3 years ago for the social work field. I’ve also been tutoring students in English and French all throughout my tennis coaching years and up to this day! From complete beginners to advanced levels, children to adults, group and private lessons, I love the variation and finding new ways to make lessons fun and adapted to each student’s own needs and expectations!
I’ve been a student myself, learning English, Spanish, Dutch... I’ve had the chance to meet great teachers along the way who taught me valuable lessons: love to learn, love what you learn and always have fun while you’re doing it! I deeply aspire to be as helpful to my students as my teachers have been to me.
If you learn French with me, I see us as a team: we work together towards a common goal. I believe in a constant exchange between us so that what you learn makes sense to you and that you enjoy each minute you spend learning French, whether during a lesson or outside. Finally, my experience as a tennis coach naturally brings a lot of dynamism to my lessons and you can always count on me to support and motivate you, as well as to help you push your limits when I feel that you’re holding back!
Ready to team up with me?
I invite you to watch my video and book a trial lesson to start your French language journey!
À très bientôt!

You may have different reasons to learn French. It can be for job opportunities, living in a French-speaking country, or just for fun. Well, don’t look any further!
Hi, I'm Leyla! With over six years of experience, I offer tailored one-on-one online French lessons designed to empower adult learners on their language journey. As a multilingual tutor who has navigated the challenges of learning languages firsthand, I understand the nuances, struggles, and victories involved.
My approach blends conversational learning with structured lessons, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and engaging in real-life discussions. During our sessions, we delve into personalized topics, taking notes on vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation to ensure comprehensive growth.
Before we start, I conduct a free trial session to understand your learning style, preferences, and goals. This helps me personalize our lessons, whether you're a visual learner, an auditory learner, or a mix of both. As we progress, I regularly assess your development, providing targeted exercises and feedback to reinforce your strengths and tackle areas needing improvement.
My dedication to your success extends beyond our sessions. You'll have access to collaborative Google Docs and an Excel file that track our lessons, vocabulary, grammar, and your progress. I believe in fostering a supportive learning environment, encouraging consistent practice, and tailoring homework to address your specific needs.

Hello ! My name is Charlotte, from France. Learning languages is a passion of mine, along with many others :-) I welcome everyone to come and learn with me; whatever your current level, I’ll be very happy to help you gain more fluency in French. I’m very patient and will provide a cheerful and safe environment where you can talk without any stress or fear of being judged. I try to stick to French as much as possible during the lessons in order to build up your confidence about being able to navigate through your new language.
I believe in helping you master French as it is spoken/written by actual French-speaking people, not textbooks. This means adapting the material and language level to the situation. Indeed, we don’t usually speak in daily life the way a journalist does on the news. And we don’t write a formal report as we would an email to a friend. So knowing your goals and why you are learning French is essential.
A bientôt !

I've been teaching online since 2016, having in the previous 15 years worked with young people, adults and foreigners of all levels.
In my opinion, enthusiasm, patience, humour and understanding are the keys for efficient learning. I also like to have discussions, and give my students readings and writing exercises.
If you have an intermediate level, we can speak about any topic that interests you. My interests include ecology and self sufficiency, architecture, history, geopolitics, philosophy, Asian food, horses, and nature.
See Reviews From StudentsIf you prefer in-person learning over online classes, LanguaTalk might not be the best fit for your needs. For local classes, you can search through community boards or local service listing websites. However, we encourage you to explore the convenience and effectiveness of online classes. You can start with a free trial session to experience the benefits first-hand, such as access to a broader range of experienced teachers and potentially lower costs.
Many students initially have reservations about participating in online French classes, thinking the experience will be vastly different from in-person classes. However, they often discover that online classes can be just as engaging and effective. In an online French class, you’ll interact with your teacher and classmates as if you were all in the same room. The teacher may share resources (like articles or videos) and will collaborate with you in real-time using tools like Google Docs or Dropbox Paper, ensuring an interactive learning environment. The biggest benefit is convenience: there is no need to travel, and you can book lessons for when it suits you.
While some teachers on LanguaTalk may offer in-person conversational classes in their local area, the majority specialize in online teaching. This approach is more convenient for them, allowing flexibility and the comfort of working from home. Most teachers are not based in Chesham and are spread across the globe, so if you're looking for a class with LanguaTalk, you should anticipate an online learning experience.
Whilst not always the case, French classes in Chesham are typically more expensive than online learning options. This is due to the costs associated with using a classroom, as well as travel time and expenses for teachers. Online classes, on the other hand, eliminate these overheads. Additionally, online instructors often live in countries with lower living costs, which can further reduce the price of online classes.
The vast majority of students take 55-minute lessons. But some tutors also provide the option of 30-minute lessons. If they do, you’ll see this noted on their profile (below their pricing and above the ‘Buy Lessons’ button).
55-minute lessons are recommended for most students. In general, we only suggest considering 30-minute lessons if they’re for your child, or you have an intermediate level and only want conversation practice.
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 so that you receive your tutor’s full attention and can make fast progress. Communicating via video call, you’ll be able to talk to your tutor and share learning materials as if you were in the same room.
The tutors vary in terms of their teaching methods, resources, experiences, and personalities. So we suggest you look at several profiles to choose the best tutor for you. Whichever French tutor you pick, they'll aim to tailor the lessons to your individual needs.
On LanguaTalk, you can find exceptional tutors for 1-on-1 French lessons tailored to your goals and learning preferences. Here’s how to try it for yourself:
1 - Find your ideal tutor by browsing videos, reviews, pricing and availability.
2 - Book a trial. Many tutors offer a 30-minute trial for free; others charge a discounted price.
3 - Take personalised lessons with your new tutor via video call. Or try someone else.
No card is required to book a free trial session. Please only book if you're considering taking lessons. Pricing varies by tutor and you can use the filter to find someone who fits your budget. You can pay one lesson at a time, or buy in bulk for a discount (open a tutor's profile to see their pricing options).
We’re confident you’ll love learning via LanguaTalk. We're trusted by students all over the world because we're transparent. We ask students to rate each lesson, and we display reviews on tutors’ profiles.
99.8% of lesson ratings are 5 stars. Why? Because unlike other platforms, we accept only the top 10% of tutor applications.
To see our full FAQs or get help from our friendly team, click the 'Help' button in the bottom-right. You can also watch students talking about their experiences learning via LanguaTalk below.
New to LanguaTalk? We'll give you a credit for a free trial session. Many, but not all, tutor offer these for free. If they do not, the price will be just 30 percent of their full lesson price, so you can still try a session at minimal cost.
Trial sessions last 30 minutes. They allow you to assess whether the tutor is a good fit for you, and get a feel for learning online. The tutor will assess your level and aim to understand your needs and interests so that they can customise any lessons you decide to take. You'll be encouraged to speak in French as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too!
If, after your trial session, you don't feel that the tutor is quite right for you, you can book a trial with another tutor for just 30 percent of their full lesson price.
The beauty of taking lessons online is that you can learn anytime, anywhere. When you choose a tutor, just check their calendar to make sure that they have available times that fit your schedule. Some tutor have limited availability as they already have a lot of students.
