My name is Lorena. I am from Barcelona, I have lived in UK and Japan and now I live in Asturias, in the north of Spain. I love cats, travelling, getting to know people from all over the world and, of course, languages. I speak Spanish, Catalan, English, Japanese and a little bit of French. So I can also give you some advice having being a language student myself. 

I have been teaching for more than 16 years and I have 9 years of experience as an online teacher. I prefer to teach grammar with  examples because they contain chunks of grammar that we will later encounter in other phrases and grammar constructions. You will create your examples and incorporate the grammar rules. We will learn grammar from real-life scenarios where people communicate naturally their thoughts, following a communicative learning approach. We will also work on Google Sheets, which you will always have access to and where we can work on and save all of our learning sessions.

I will send you homework regularly just so you can work on your Spanish in between every session that we have. 

I encourage you to focus on the process rather than the outcome. IIf we trust the process, we make progress! Falling in love with the journey of language acquisition is the most rewarding path by far. 

So far I've learned that certain teaching methods are best suited to specific students. Each student has their own preferred learning style and unique goals, and yours will be a guide for me to personalize your lessons. 

I believe that every student has a valuable voice that should be heard, that's how I will organize our future lessons. My teaching style is flexible. I can designing a study plan independently or collaboratively with the student.

I am up to date with the newest learning theories, I use "Language Transfer" and "Comprehensible Input", so the materials are adapted to these methods, focusing on learning in context. At first I consider it important to hear what the apprentice is looking for and based on that, choose how the next lesson are going to take place. However I tend to make my lessons dynamic, interspersing conversations and various exercises including grammar, music and even books. I have a blackboard available to use if necessary and also headphones with a microphone to improve the audio quality.
