I have always been interested in Eastern languages and cultures as well, so I decided to specialize in Japanese language and culture at university. After graduating, I moved to Japan, where I have been working as an English teacher for more than 2 years now. I have an IELTS certificate and I also completed a TEFL teaching course.

Hi there! I’m Debbie and live in South Africa.

I’m a qualified teacher with a bachelor’s degree and a CELTA qualification from Cambridge - for teaching English as a foreign language. I have over 30 years of experience teaching English in classrooms and online to ALL levels of learners.

I specialize in improving fluency and confidence in daily conversation at home and at work. My approach is holistic which means we will use relevant topics and speaking tasks to learn new words and practice language skills.

I understand that speaking English fluently and naturally is YOUR goal and that you might need help in a particular area – like grammar accuracy or pronunciation and intonation, or a wider set of active vocabulary. You may struggle with listening or reading or writing. These are all areas I can help you improve – once we have identified what you need.

We’ll use a shared document to record your growing vocabulary and highlight areas you need to fix. You will have a written record of every lesson with notes and tips that I will provide. Hello, I'm teacher Kelly and I'm a native English speaker from the UK. 

I completed my TEFL in Asia and have over 8 years teaching experience with kids and adults from a combination of working in schools and online. My students tell me I have a clear and neutral accent that is easy to understand. They often comment on my relaxed and fun energy in my lessons. 

When working with children I create vibrant and interactive lessons that include phonics, writing & reading. After each class a worksheet or activity can be given. When working with adults I also like to create fun lessons. Learning grammar is stressful and I like to focus more on conversation and simplified explanations. We learn about phrasal verbs, idioms and lots of other things a new learner should need to be able to understand and speak like a native. 

As a teacher I believe it is important to make the students feel comfortable and give them a safe space to learn and not to be afraid to make mistakes. Learning a new language is not easy it takes time and dedication, I understand this and try to build the students confidence as much as possible.
